The iconic Lions Gate Bridge, in Vancouver, BC, was built in depression era 1938 by the Guinness family (of beer fame), who had invested in property on the north side, and who saw a massive increase in the value of their land once people could actually get there.
A sailor I know once told me that, among the greatest feelings of returning home from sea, was the heart swell he got when passing under the Lions Gate Bridge. I felt a similar excitement as I headed out on a recent adventure, when I captured this image.
7/12 Time for a Vacation
Such a lovely moment when we stopped along the way, to gaze at the sunset as it drifted down to the horizon.
The Matterhorn looms over the town of Zermatt, Switzerland at sunrise. A wonderful place for a holiday. My recent adventure is in my new video::
Not so many years ago, I was the one walking out on the cliff edge while others called me back in. I was excited to push the boundaries of adventure. I loved feeling limitless. But something has changed. With more aches and pains, Iβm no longer confident that I wonβt lose my balance. Iβve seen the real consequences when things donβt go as planned. Am I smarter and wiser? Yes. Am I limiting my experiences too much? Probably. When my daughter walked out on the cliff edge above this fast flowing river, my Mom instinct kicked in and my anxiety soared. Whatβs with that? Time to check my risk aversion and push myself out of my comfort zone more often I think, but within limits. Thatβs where lifeβs fun and adventure lives.

Sometimes in nature things are wild. The remote desert sometimes creates it's own patterns and then the sky paints over the more permanent rock formations that make up the landscape. In the end it's all impermanence. Although perhaps these rock formations are just brief stretch of time in a universal sense, I will probably be able to come back to this place through out my life and enjoy the same patterns.
After an exhilarating hike of plentiful tree roots and mud we were rewarded with some of the most gorgeous views I've seen in a long time. A spectacular day for an adventure!
[Can you see Chris?]
We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.

Monte Creek Ranch Winery is just east of Kamloops, BC. The area is famous for the last train robbery in 1906 by the notorious βGentleman Banditβ Billy Miner who was captured near this view. We enjoyed the winery's Hands Up White.
If you surrender completely to the moments as they pass, you live more richly those moments.

This was the last day of EugeneΓ’s trip to California. What was supposed to be a climb to Whitney turned out into a road trip. We explored pretty much the main spots of Eastern Sierra that were not hit by the snow storm at that time. One of them was the Mammoth Hot Springs where we arrived after visiting the Death Valley. Not knowing how far it would be we scouted the sunrise sport in the night (apparently it was super close), then knocked out in the car for a few hours to wake up to that gorgeous sunrise.
As you can see the storm was rolling in over the Mammoth this morning but weΓ’ve got a glimpse of a sunrise on Mount Laurel.
Later weΓ’ve spent a few hours in hidden hot tubs (not so much hidden thanks to the google maps) which was whole lot of fun.
I rode over to the local community garden today to enjoy the flowers, veggies, birds, bees and butterflies. Love this time of year.
Our new bikes have been fantastic. For Christmas last year I bought my husband and I two folding e-bikes. They're compact enough to throw in the back of the car, and powerful enough to take you 70km distance on battery. It's hybrid nature means I can peddle most of the time, but when my hubby gets too far ahead, I can flip the power on and catch up. Help on the hills is nice too :) I highly recommend AlterEgoBikes.com.
