One of the fairground rides in liverpool pierhead they are there over the Christmas and new year thanks for looking paul !!!
A view of the city of Liverpool as seen by Bertie, the Liver Bird that looks inland. Taken from the 'top' of the Royal Liver Building on Liverpool's waterfront.
I decided to go for a stroll last night and ended up power walking for 15 miles? The weather was perfect for the drone so I let her off the lead and sent her across the River Mersey for a spot of sightseeing on the Liverpool waterfront.
And I say it's alright, though we had hoped for more from it, the colours were so beautiful......so too was the extra hour of sleep I bagged when we got back home! Why does sunrise seem such a mammoth task at this time of year but it's so much later than when I'm dragged out middle of the night in the summer months when it seemed so much easier. Sense make it does not! HSS :)
Do the gulls taunt the Liverbird.......?
There is freedom, and access to it, all around.
It was said that if the Liverbirds ever left prosperity would be lost,so the birds are tethered in place.
What hurts more is that I continually came back, as if to allow you to hurt me over and over again... Why did I do that?!?! What was I thinking?!?!
Of course a part of a line from a certain footie anthem.....but whether Red or Blue even at night the city has a rhythm of life that encompasses the soul so that you are never really alone.
Bella is one of the two Liver Birds atop of the Royal Liver Building, Liverpool. Here she is seen from the bottom of her tower, which only allows you to see her beak holding her 'Lava' twig.
" A large and conspicuous waterbird, the cormorant has an almost primitive appearance with its long neck making it appear almost reptilian...It is often seen standing with its wings held out to dry...Regarded by some as black, sinister and greedy, cormorants are supreme fishers which can bring them into conflict with anglers and they have been persecuted in the past..."
"The Liver bird is the symbol of the City of Liverpool... It is normally represented as a cormorant, and appears as such on the city's coat-of-arms arms, in which it bears a branch of laver seaweed in its beak as a further pun on the name 'Liverpool'..."

The Three Graces of the world famous Liverpool Waterfront (from left to right): the Royal Liver Building (1908-11) by Walter Aubrey Thomas, the Cunard Building (1914-16) by Willinck & Thicknesse with Arthur J. Davis and the former offices of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board (1903-07) by Briggs & Wolstenholme with Hobbs & Thornely.

Liverpool`s iconic waterfront part of a UNESCO World Heritage site on a calm night during low tide, the best time to get those reflections,
The Royal Liver Building on Liverpool's iconic waterfront is lit up in a deep blue in what seems like an act of defience as Liverpool Football Club host ANOTHER European night at Anfield, or am I just being paranoid? Good fun all the same and lets face it, red or blue, the building looks brilliant in its blue shroud.
Once one of the tallest buildings in the country, the Royal Liver Building is now only the joint-fifth tallest structure in the City of Liverpool. Today the Royal Liver Building is one of the most recognisable landmarks in the city of Liverpool and is home to two fabled Liver Birds that watch over the city and the sea.
Sunrise in Liverpool and the Liver Birds, sat atop of the Royal Liver Building, seemingly spread their wings as though drying out after a night on the waves.

Liverpool city center and beyond, looking across the River Mersey to Birkenhead and the wider Wirral, taken from the Hill Dickinson offices at Exchange Flags, part of the Liverpool business district.
Like lifeblood flowing, busy rush of aortic activity - as I stand taking this, I feel a certain calm in the hectic scene. The warm evening air is mellowing, the shutter opens and life slows, clears. Then click, it closes, and reality bites...
From Right to left. Port of Liverpool Building; Cunard Building and Royal Liver Building. All three are Grade II listed Buildings and part of the UNESCO-designated World Heritage Maritime Mercantile City. All three are constructed in the first decade of the twentieth century built on reclaimed shore along the River Mersey.
