Part 3 of a 7 series shot. This raptor is best seen (large )
The distinctive colors mark out a Brahminy Kite from the other raptors that abound in Kerala. This is primarily a scavenger of the water areas and takes its prey diving down and lifting the food in its claws.
This is the same juvenile kite readying itself for a steep dive to the water surface to pick up food.
This shot and others in this series (see ezee123.livejournal.com/ ) taken with a 300 mm Nikkor lens hand held with 400 ISO.
Since retiring 4 years ago, i've barely picked up my camera except for the occasional trip somewhere. Well last night i finally had the motivation and time to try my hand at star trails again. i had a bit of a time trying to remember how to do some stuff with my camera, but eventually it came back to me.
i’ve wanted to do a star trail shot at our new home near martintown for quite a while - last night conditions were perfect for it - not much moon, clear skies.
the final result is the combination of 471 shots from 10pm to 2:18am taken in our back yard.

Храмовый комплекс Успения Пресвятой Богородицы (zavidovohram.ru/) стоит в центре древнего села Завидово, несколько восточнее автотрассы Москва (112 км) — Санкт-Петербург (522км).
В настоящее время Храмовый комплекс включает:
- два храма: Успенский трехпрестольный (XVII век) и Троицкий однопрестольный;
- пятиярусная колокольня (построенная вновь в 2003 году на месте разрушенной в 1950-х годах). На третьем ярусе колокольня находится самая большая звонница Тверской епархии, общая масса колоколов 12,5 тонны, самый большой колокол «Благовест» 5,1 тонны;
- музей (бывшая часовня и иконохранилище). Музей посвящен истории села Завидово и храмовому комплексу;
- сторожка, где расположен музей «Народные промыслы России» и воскресная школа. Прежде здесь же находилась ограда с башнями, которые впоследствии были разрушены.
The temple complex of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (zavidovohram.ru/) stands in the center of the ancient village of Zavidovo, somewhat east of the Moscow highway (112 km) - St. Petersburg (522 km).
Currently, the Church complex includes two temples: the Assumption three-altar (17th century) and Trinity single altar, as well as the five-tier bell tower (built again in 2003 on the site destroyed in the 1950s). The bell tower on the third tier is the largest belfry of the Tver Diocese, the total mass of the bells is 12.5 tons, the largest bell is the Blagovest bell 5.1 tons. The museum (the former chapel and the icon-depository) is dedicated to the history of Zavidovo village and the temple complex, opened on June 12, 2006. Nearby is the gatehouse, where the museum "Folk crafts of Russia" and the Sunday school are now located. First there was a fence with towers, which were subsequently destroyed.

Sadako Sasaki, (January 7, 1943 - October 25, 1955) was a Japanese girl who lived near Misasa Bridge in Hiroshima, Japan when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Sadako was only two years old on August 6, 1945 when she became a victim of the atomic bomb.
At the time of the explosion Sadako was at home, about 1 mile from ground zero. By November 1954, chicken pox had developed on her neck and behind her ears. Then in January 1955, purple spots had started to form on her legs. Subsequently, she was diagnosed with leukemia, which her mother referred to as "an atom bomb disease." She was hospitalized on February 21, 1955 and given, at the most, a year to live.
On August 3, 1955, Chizuko Hamamoto - Sadako's best friend - came to the hospital to visit and cut a golden piece of paper into a square and folded it into a paper crane. At first Sadako didn't understand why Chizuko was doing this but then Chizuko retold the story about the paper cranes. Inspired by the crane, she started folding them herself, spurred on by the Japanese saying that one who folded 1,000 cranes was granted a wish. A popular version of the story is that she fell short of her goal of folding 1,000 cranes, having folded only 644 before her death, and that her friends completed the 1,000 and buried them all with her. This comes from the book Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. An exhibit which appeared in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum stated that by the end of August, 1955, Sadako had achieved her goal and continued to fold more cranes.
Though she had plenty of free time during her days in the hospital to fold the cranes, she lacked paper. She would use medicine wrappings and whatever else she could scrounge up. This included going to other patients' rooms to ask to use the paper from their get-well presents. Chizuko would bring paper from school for Sadako to use.
During her time in hospital her condition progressively worsened. Around mid-October her left leg became swollen and turned purple. After her family urged her to eat something, Sadako requested tea on rice and remarked "It's good." Those were her last words. With her family around her, Sadako died on the morning of October 25, 1955..

I drew this to accompany my short story Saggett
So this year has been a roller-coaster. I have a livejournal account now where I've been writing how I've been feeling, and my parents are paying for me to see a therapist once a week, so things are getting better. But something happened recently that made me re-evaluate everything that's gone on while I've been at uni, and while I was in America too.
So much has happened, most of it good, but some of it bad, and I have a habit of letting bad things get to me. And I haven't given myself the chance to process it, and last week it all kind of exploded. It just got too overwhelming.
I can't ignore my problems because then they build up inside of me, and that's when things get really scary.
I've not been coping with uni well basically. But I'm about to finish and this Summer I'm really going to try and get back to the person I was.
I don't want to get too personal, but there are people in my life now who I have to get better and be there for; My family, friends and my boyfriend.
In this self portrait I kind of thought about all that's gone on this year and it really just made me realise how much of it is my own fault. I am such a self destructive person, and I've never really acknowledged this on Flickr, or in real life.
The white and black is meant to represent good and bad, because I've done a lot of stuff in uni, and america too, that has shocked me. I'm not a good person, and that's been really hard for me to accept. I used to be, but I've been such a selfish person recently, and I need to work on becoming better.
I'm just glad uni's almost over. And I can take this Summer to devote to my family, my true friends, my boyfriend and, most importantly, myself.
Also, I have stubble, so that's new.

mi piace perché lascia un sacco di spazio ai gusti personali ma da un sacco di spunti interessantissimi.
La foto mi piaceva già in partenza (vedete la precedente), ma così è proprio come la "vedevo" quando l'ho scattata. Molto più drammatica.

I love it because it leaves a lot of room to personal interpretation and gives many more interesting ideas.
I already liked the original (see the photo before this), but this is exactly how I "saw" it when I shot it. Much more dramatic.
