This is a section of a live edge black walnut countertop I recently installed in my kitchen. It’s one of the most beautiful wood to use for live edge slabs, especially when encapsulated the bark and green moss!

A live edge bench or low table based on the Henderson Benches.
I used a thinner slab in this piece than in the Hendersons, and thus had to add two walnut live edge stretchers underneath.

This is only the second table of this sort we have ever gotten, and it's really unusually large. "Live-edge" refers to the natural edge all round the table--it's not cut on any side. Four beautiful pencil legs with caps intact, gorgeous shape and wood-grain, inspired by mid-century designer George Nakashima. The wood is fragrant, much like cedar, but not so resinous; we're not sure what kind it is precisely except that it is BEAUTIFUL! 100cm by 78cm at its widest, 50cm high, wood top thickness 57mm
Retalho Coffee Table
Coffee Table made of natural Pequi wood on a powder coated steel base in weathered metal finish. The Retalho Coffee Table can be made with different wood species and in many dimensions. Rectangular or square, our team will always use the wood’s imperfections to bring uniqueness to the piece.
I finished the tabletop with several coats of linseed oil, then countless coats of beeswax, all hand rubbed.

The pieces of reclaimed western maple, from the same tree, are placed together; leaving a small gap between each piece. Celebrating each slab in it's own right.
It's interesting to see from this view that the table top is really a cross section of a tree trunk (that is, parallel to the ground rather than taken on a slant) because it shows just how huge the tree was. Singaporean carpenters had access to huge, old-growth rainforest trees in the 1960s; this is almost surely a reflection of that.
