And photobombed by another gull. Extensively cropped, since we intended to walk at low tide and get a beach fix. Brought the wrong lens.
But who can resist these beauties?

Many thanks for looking, and for your fun comments.
most women carry the essentials like lipstick, a comb, a mirror and money in their bags.
I carry a some of that stuff PLUS a spare seashell. Just in case. We walked along the beach looking for a shell but couldn't find one. I had this one in my bag!! You just never know.
Roatan doesn't have alot of shells littering it's beaches because the reef is about 100 yards away and that prevents them from coming to the shore.
I am glad I had it because the afternoon sun on the sea was lovely.
All for the shell project... indeed....!
drove by a local eatery and spotted these geodesic domes which are covering multi-person tables. since new england spring weather can be so changeable (and cold), i thought this was a brilliant idea!!

ODC "live and learn"
as previously noted I've been happily married for well over half my life (31 years to be precise), so I consider myself somewhat of an expert on a happy marriage from the male point of view...
(*note: I still have no true clue to the inner workings of the female mind, rather just a healthy respect for it's ability to remain an enigma)
Chocolate is a non-negotiable item in a happy marriage. So today's tip is more of a warning than anything else. Gentleman, respect the following simple process regarding chocolate and happiness as a couple is assured.
You buy it, she eats it. Repeat often.
And guys, one last , but very important caution.. if there is ever the occasion that you find yourself in the position to be able to eat the last piece of chocolate...just walk away!!!! If however you do not and happen to eat that last piece.... well my friend, there will be no need for you to read any more of my tips...
(86.365) Had the fun experience of excitedly taking a roll of film in to be developed only to find out later that I had loaded it wrong and there wasn't a single image to be had. Idiot. Welcome to film! Oh well.
“Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Appreciate your friends. Continue to learn. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.”

I love how these little water drops perch on the edge of the hosta leaves after a rain...ready to face the day no matter what the circumstances!
You know how sometimes the end results of a photo shoot don't match your original photographic intentions? This photo is an example of just that.
I was shooting a group of moms and daughters in an indoor environment... big space, not a lot of windows, and not a lot of natural light coming in. Flash wasn't an option, so set a fairly high ISO as well as wide open aperture. I wasn't able to fine-tune my settings as much as I would prefer... just had to run and gun. Bottom line... noise. Some frames were usable... many weren't. Not unexpected, by disappointing all the same.
I picked out this image that was among the unusable images for the intended purpose of my shoot... and began to play with what possibilities it did offer. You know... 'Plan B'... just to follow wherever it might lead me. I like the way the light and tone work together... and even the high level of grain (well... noise) in this case. While much different in feel from what I usually do... it was for me, learning experience and a little victory in the way of allowing the possibilities to influence (if not outright dictate) the final image aesthetic.
Edit: Full disclosure... humbling moment. I thought I had set the ISO to 5000... turns out it was wrongly set to 50000. While this was an unpaid, volunteer gig... still... this kind of mistake on my part is simply ridiculous.
I know that my 365-day project is over, but I have decided that I will keep posting wisdoms every time I hear a good one :-)
So, I heard this one yesterday in an episode of the series "Third Watch".
It was said by Sgt. Maritza Cruz.

I want to dedicate this image to Bobbi (1936-2019) who taught me how to look for the beauty in the world around me.
Our Daily Challenge - Live and Learn
This shot was taken this past weekend, when I went to a wedding in Amish country--Lancaster, PA. A good friend from college got married to her boo thang. The ceremony was beautiful, as was the weather and the scenery. My friends and I went to school in Boston, and never have we seen so many corn fields! So after the ceremony, we ran out to play in the fields and take pictures in the gorgeous light, while the rest of the wedding party looked on from the church across the street, wondering "What in the world are those Bostonites doing? Have they never seen corn before?" And the answer is, "NO! WE HAVEN'T!" The weekend was a blast. It is always so refreshing to be around old friends.
Also, this shot is from my very first roll of FILM! I finally got it developed, and it's like magic, seeing all those shots that you composed and forgot about develop into something beautiful. I sort of suck at focusing in bright light, and while I don't mind shooting everything completely manually, it has still been quite the learning curve. But I really love it. It forces me to sloooow down, both because I am getting used to the mechanics of the camera (manual aperture ring, anyone?), but also because, with only 36 (or 24 or 12) exposures in a roll, each shot matters so much more. I think I am hooked. My next task is figuring out how to get my wallet to agree with me...
I've clearly been MIA in posting recently. I just haven't been in the mood to take any shots, so I think I have to bow out of the 30 Days of Gratitude. It's not that I'm not grateful--believe me, I am--but I think I am revolting against the idea of another series. I am still not quite recovered from Project 365. :)
P.S. - In case you've made it this far and waded through all that text, press "L" to view large! The focus isn't 100% sharp, but it's pretty darn close, and the colors really pop on black. :)
Got early yesterday, I wanted to take some pictures of the sunrise, I walked out to the car at 6:15 looked up at the sky, Cloud, gasp!! oh well I'm up and out so off I went anyhow.
I have been meaning to go to Lyme regis for ages at dawn, never got around to it, I completely messed up the majority of my shots, thought I had a good lead on the Cobb, totally wrong, never mind you live and learn, this is about the best I got of the morning, I will do better next time, well worth the 70miles driven for the experience.
Happy New Year everyone, a big thank you to all of my friends and contacts for every comment and fav you have made, see you next year :-)

Secret Garden - Bruce Springsteen
" If you pray the price
She'll let you deep inside
There is a secret garden she has
She'll Let you into parts of herself
That will bring you down
She' ll let you into her heart
If you you gotta hammer and vice
But into the secret garden
Don't think twice "
