I had posted this picture already on the previous day but decided then to do some more work on it. So this is an alternative version of the picture that I deleted.
And I have to say that the Flickr algorithm does something to pictures that in some cases changes the impression a picture makes. This here is one of them. I am indeed not happy with what Flickr does to this picture., It looks much flatter than on my computer screen. But well, what can you do.... :-(
I took this shot in the blistering cold. A fog had rolled in while I was hiking up the mountains near my home. It was somewhat of an inversion and the temperature dropped from 20 degrees F down to 10 F (-12C).
I had planned on capturing a few shots like this one taken in a cavity of a sandstone cliff. I waited till dark to maximize the colors using my Litra Gear. I used the LitraPro for a slight highlight in the front and two LitraTorch2.0s to light from the back and sides. I threw handfuls of sand until I got the dusty look I was going for.
I hiked out using LitraTorches after finishing this shoot. It was a hard shoot due to temps but it was also a good experience to try something I hadn’t done before. I am looking forward to more night shoots (in the summer!).

I had a photo shoot at the local Gilbert Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My wife’s cousins son was getting baptized and they wanted some shots.
Over the years I have found that taking pictures of toys relates to pretty much any medium of photography. I really feel toy photography has made me a better well rounded photographer.
After the shoot, I stuck around at dusk and played around in the fountains and reflection pools. I used my LitraPro submerged to add more glow to the small falls.

I actually took this shot yesterday morning after dropping my my kiddos off at school.
There is an abandoned miniature golf place near there that is a favorite spot for me in the mornings because the sunrise is at the perfect angle to make some awesome bokeh. This particular morning had quite a bit of cloud cover and made for an interesting grey light lacking shadows...

Got this figure from Minifigure.com. Such a cool detailed rendition of Ebenezer Scrooge. The book even has the front page in tiny but legible print. I purchased my wife a remake of the original Christmas Carol book with a red cover last year and it worked perfectly here as a base.

I forgot about this bike I got a few months ago at the hobby store. It’s meant to mount to a gas powered remote controlled Jeep but works perfect for 6” figures! Paired up nicely with my Jawa. Although I may end up redoing this shot at the sand dunes.😀👍
My wife helped out by hanging the figure and trying to get to stop twirling has it hung there... I think I need to buy some bailing wire - might make it easier.😂

It rained most the week; the clouds rolled in Monday and had a few cloudbursts. Tuesday clouded up more. Wednesday and Thursday rained cats and dogs. I’m telling you - there is nothing quite like a desert rainstorm. We were on the freeway during one downpour that dropped so much water it was a literal wall. The freeway traffic slowed to 25mph as the visibility was so low. I’m talking rain that blues your windshield even when the wipers are on full blast. Rain that causes reservoirs to form at all the local parks/retention basins. Flash flooding 1-2” of rain in like a 20 min burst.
Our back cinderblock wall was soaked clear through. Friday morning was blue sky and the sun rose and it’s rays hit that wall. I’ve never seen such an interesting phenomenon. The wall was literally smoking as the saturated bricks steamed in the warmth. I raced outside with my camera and some figures. I took a lot of photos with the steam but I really liked the lens flare in this one. I’ll probably post the others sometime.😎👍

I purchased this Leviathan figure from Fortnite made by Jazwares. I am very impressed by the quality of the figure - and it’s super poseable with 40 point of articulation!
We went to the riparian preserve in Gilbert, AZ over the weekend and I snapped this shot with the vintage Helios 44-2. I’ve been using the lensbaby Twist 60 quite often but I just love the look of the Helios. It really cannot be replicated. It’s just got so much character in the blur.

I thought this Newton Scamander character was very hard to understand in the movie - his words were usually slurred and muffled. Maybe that’s how his character was supposed to be portrayed - but it was difficult to follow anything he said.

So I was thinking about how to do this shot for quite awhile. It finally came together when I found some almond Rocha foil wrappers. I wanted to have the group of hazmat guys investigating unaware that the creature that mangled the metal was watching them curiously.😄 I think it turned out fairly well but I may revisit the idea in the future. I used the Iron Giant by 1000Toys, and Preiser H0 scale miniatures.

One of the many reasons I live in Cedar City, Utah is the dark skies all around. I can drive in nearly any direction at night and be to a spot where the milky way galaxy 🌌 is easily seen within about ten minutes. It never ceases to amaze me the beauty of the stars. Looking deep into the cosmos I wonder at all the worlds without number and how I’m actually looking back in time. There’s just something about being under starlight on a moonless night that is a great recharge for me. I guess it gives me a deeper appreciation that our world is only a small blip in the vast amount of Gods creation yet, he still considers our thoughts and desires and lives.

I work in designing telecommunications systems for light rail and we use lots of fiber optics in our designs. It never ceases to amaze me at the amount of information that is transported effortlessly through light. I found a fiber optic lamp on our conference room table and this image resulted.

About Litra Pro
This is a LED light that can produce up to 1200 lumens. You can adjust light level, and temperature – which goes from 3,000K to 6000K.
The LitraPro is waterproof, and has a 70 degree beam angle. The light can run for 10+ hours on low input, or 45 minutes at 100%.
The Bluetooth control allows you to connect the light via phone. That way, if you have the light set up high, it can be adjusted for your needs without getting on a ladder.
