11 image pano at 68MP. Okay, I told myself I wouldn't do another pano on a work night, but this one was a lot easier to pull off. Hooray! Plus, I'm getting better at it :]

So, you may be asking several questions at this point... Like... Why do a pano of this, why not just do it in one shot?? I want to get better at panos and it's either my 105mm or my 10.5mm fishy - the 50 needs to be fixed. You my also be asking... Nikko, why did you take a picture of makeup?? I do makeup for shoots and do some awesome zombie makeup from time to time, so this is about 90% of the makeup I have and use. Also, I figured it'd be good practice to do a staging shot involving a lot of small pieces - it's pretty tough! (I messed up on a couple pieces and should have moved some things around... Oh well)

Oh and hey! I'm looking for doing a photoshoot soon! Anyone interested in looking dead? yeah? yeah??

In this video I talk you through how I made a latex model of the lunar crater Archimedes to use as a teaching tool to show how the angle of the Sun affects crater shadows. I used my sketch of Craig Howman's photo of this crater as a reference to try and get the correct morphology on the walls of the crater. The direction of the Sun was slightly different in my photos demonstrating the model than it was in the original photo and sketch. This will be a replacement for my previous crater model which was made from Plaster of Paris and Mod Roc. This new one is much lighter and not as breakable as the plaster one was. I will be using this in talks and at outreach events.

Materials used:

Liquid latex

Baking flour

Clear sheet of acetate (oiled)

Fork (for mixing and sculpting)

White spray paint

Day 71/365 "Happy Halloween"

I love liquid latex. I wish I had a huge tub of it to experiment with. No sexy maid outfit for me on Halloween, I'd rather have a rotting face LOL. hahaha ;)
