Linoprint "AGORA" for "MAIL 2 MAASTRICHT" 10x15 cm.

thanks to Gunda and Hannes the assembly of Concarneau linoprint cuts has been completed, see here the 12-piece version, preferred because of the details

This lino print is inspired by the pigment in this piece, Paper Tiger. Its a pigment created by Thomas Little @a.rural.pen on instagram. He wrote "Paper Tiger is a blend of synthesized yellow iron oxide derived from an early 20th century shotgun manufactured by the crescent firearms company, and iron rich sandstone from the Cohaire River basin. I named it Paper Tiger for its tawny hue and its nod to the metaphor. In transmuting the weapon to golden dust and symbolically returning it to the earth, the threat of violence becomes nullified. The tiger loses his teeth and claws, and becomes just a shade, a suggestion of itself."

I was inspired to create this when I read this. Though not a shotgun like the pigment, a pistol is more widely owned in the United States. I chose a chrysanthemum because it has many meanings throughout the world I think they all fit the metaphor of the pigment.

Perfection - what does it mean to you? For me (as I think for many artists) life is a constant balance between the wish to make things perfectly like I had it in mind - and constantly having to face that it doesn't work, will never work that way.

This edition of 20 prints (all different, see the whole edition here) is the result of my thinking about perfection.- And they are called "imperfection" :-)

On the backside they all carry a handwritten quote by Salvador Dali: "Have no fear of perfection - you'll never reach it." - The quote is by Dali, it's written by me :-)

I have several explanations for why these prints stand for "imperfection", but I don't want to preempt you in finding your own meaning and interpretation.

The sheets of paper on which prints numbered 10-20 are printed is a little larger than A5, about 30cm x 21 cm, 15.5 x 21.5 cm, printed on reclaimed paper.

Test stamp is very easy! Lay your testing piece of fabric flat on a flat surface. Apply ink on a stamp with even layer and press stamp on to testing piece of fabric, making sure to distribute pressure evenly all over the stamp. If you see flaws and you are unhappy with the results of your stamp printing you can go few steps back and carve stamp to perfection with your tools. I hand to carve a bit more. If you are happy what you see you are ready for the fun part!

KALENDERPROJECT 1997 – 2011

Iedere kunstenaar kreeg twee kalenders.

CALENDAR PROJECT 1997-2011

In 1997 Anne Nomrowski and Dietmar Vollmer started a calendar project. They invited ten friends to design an artwork. Each artist had to make one moth 24 times in the same or a similar way. Anne and Dietmar fitted the month together, they included the dates and connected the sheets with a wire spiral. Each participant received two original calendars.

My first contribution for 1998 was a linoprint for November. In the next years I could choose which month I wanted to make an artwork about. For 2001 I did April, to celebrate the first tulips in our garden.

After twelve years I have made every month of the year and I can create a calendar from my contributions.

The calendar project was the nicest mail-art-project I ever took part in. The quality of the contributions was always high. The calendar was a real joy to use in my house, each month was different and beautiful to look at.

And every year I had a nice artwork to present to a friend.
