“Black-headed Grosbeak parents fly south with worn feathers after breeding season. Their molting locations had been a mystery. The California scientists solved it with relatively inexpensive Global Positioning System (GPS) receiving devices.
They attached the 1-gm electronic devices to a leg of each grosbeak. The devices wake up every 2-6 weeks, record the GPS position and switch off. The GPS device, leg harness and leg bands weigh less than 2 g, or the equivalent of a long-distance runner carrying a laptop in a backpack. Zwischen Wuppertal-Vohwinkel und Gruiten liegt der Abzweig Linden. Hier trennt sich die Strecke via "Erkrather Steige" nach Düsseldorf von der "Wupperschiene" via Solingen nach Köln.
Der 02.08.2009 war ein durchweg verregneter Tag. Zum Abend hin, kurz vor Sonnenuntergang, öffnete sich jedoch die Wolkendecke und so gelang doch noch ein Sonnenfoto von 110 380 mit ihrer RB48 von Wuppertal-Oberbarmen nach Bonn-Mehlem, die am Abzweig Linden "links abbiegt".

DB Cargo-loc 189 024 – 3 is op 24 maart 2022 met een via Venlo omgeleide lege kolentrein onderweg richting Nederland en passeert hier ter hoogte van het tussen Viersen (D) en Venlo gelegen Lind (D). Op de achtergrond is een boer bezig met het oogsten van de prei.

Vanuit Griendtsveen (NL) werd er nog even de grens overgestoken en naar Dülken (D) gereden. Helaas was LTE met de GATX kolentrein daar al gepasseerd. Toen nog maar wat verder en kwamen uit bij 'n mooie stek even buiten Boisheim (D). Er was gemeld dat LTE 193 232 ( 100 ELL/ Flying Dutchman ) onderweg was. Na wat reken zou hij rond 14u30 moeten passeren,klopte ook nog. Hier dus LTE 193 232 met de volbeladen Wörth-Shuttle die de 2 fotografen passeert. Vanaf hier richting Viersen (D) en verder Duitsland in.

Die Schmorsdorfer Linde mit ihren 11 m Stammumfang zählt zu den National Bedeutsamen Bäumen Deutschlands. Schon 1630 ist der Baum inmitten des kleines Dorfes schriftlich genannt worden und auch die Komponistin Clara Schumann weilte zwischen 1836 und 1849 gern an diesem romantischen Ort. Auch wenn die Linde bei einem Sturm im Jahr 1844 fast die Hälfte ihrer Höhe verlor, ist der Baum mit seinem knorrigen Stamm und dem geräumigen Inneren ein faszinierendes Naturdenkmal.

Raramente si vedono locomotive così pulite e ben curate nella Cargo di Trenitalia, la D445 1018 riverniciata recentemente transita sulle livellette del Cuneese tra Busca e Cuneo con la sua tradotta da Verzuolo, composta da fantastici carri SBB Roos anch'essi riverniciati a nuovo.
Not often it is possible to see such a shining locomotive in the fleet of Trenitalia Cargo. But D445 1018 was the rarity: The fresh repainted locomotive is hauling the empty log train to Cuneo made by SBB cargo fresh repainted wagons too! The picture was taken near the old station of Roata rossi, here on the Background.
