How about a lime-green rose?

Produced for ‘Flora in Monotone’, the theme for ‘Smile on Saturday!’.

Lantanas flourishing in April! Taken from a high place at full focal length of 300mm.

The Amaryllis 'Papilio' has large, beautiful, white, white with red stripes conical flowers. Its appearance is exotic and its foliage is also quite ornamental.

Of the bulbous plants, Amarílis is one of the most cultivated in all of Brazil, due to its size and beauty. Because they are cultivated bulbs, they grow and bloom anywhere, whether in a pot or directly in the garden.

Simple cultivation, just cover the bulb with soil, leaving the top tip out, watering without exaggeration, just to keep the soil always moist. It is quite demanding in fertility, irrigation and drainage. Your substrate should contain a good amount of organic matter.

The natural tendency is to bloom in early spring. It likes loose soil and full sun. Bulb intended solely for ornamental cultivation.

This famous quote by Kermit the Frog (Muppett), is very appropriate for the Green Anole, a small bright green lizard, native to Florida. It is slowly being displaced by the Brown Anole, a "visitor" from Cuba.

The bright green color might be a good camouflage amid fresh green foliage, but it very visible against tree branches, dark soil, dry foliage etc.

Hippeastrum Papilio (Hippeastrum hybrid) has light lime green blooms with dominant deep burgundy veins and markings.

Papilio is Latin for Butterfly making this variety is very aptly named. This very rare species Hippeastrum originated from the tropical forests of southern Brazil.

For a spectacular floral display I simply couldn't go past Hippeastrums. Also known as Amaryllis, these large spectacular trumpet shaped flowers are produced in Summer from bare bulbs, followed by strappy green foliage as the flowers are dying off. Hippeastrums are easy to grow in pots containers or in clumps as a garden display, and unlike other varieties, Papilio prefers a more shady position

and performs best once it has been undisturbed for a few years. Bulbs need to be planted with the top 1/3 of the bulb above the soil.

Due to the extreme popularity of this unusual variety, it has been difficult for me to keep my growing numbers up to meet my garden demand.

Got two dormant bulbs on Nov 11, 2020. Curiosity made my anxiety reach a thousand. I had only seen it in photographs.

Like the dgħajsa, the luzzu is also a uniquely Maltese boat. Painted in the traditional colours of red, blue and yellow, it is a sturdy and reliable sea craft and can be put to sea in almost every kind of weather. Primarily, the luzzu is a fishing boat but it has other uses such as ferrying locals and tourists across the Grand Harbour.

Many luzzijiet (plural) have the eye of Osiris painted or carved on the bow, a symbol said to have been brought to Malta by the Phoenicians. This seems to suggest that craft of this type must have been common in the harbour since the time of the Phoenicians and Carthaginians.

[Orange-coloured] Swim Buoy for Open Water Swimmers, Triathletes, Kayakers and Snorkelers. Excellent for safer swim training.

Floating equips [swimmers] with the ability to roll to their back and stay at the water's surface, which places them in an ideal position to breathe. Floating also helps the swimmer to conserve energy, which reduces the chances of drowning from physical fatigue.

I love the lime green stigma.

Macro Mondays theme Zed

It should be self-explanitory but just in case you are looking at this and wondering why I've posted it to Macro Mondays, this is Zed or 'Z' for Zest; the zest of a lime.

The English language is rubbish for "Z"s. However, being limited to just a few things it wasn't difficult to choose what to photograph (but, as usual, difficult to choose a final photograph!).

HMM 😊

I often cut flowers and place them on different bushes,

You see here a Waterlily I just cut to bring indoors with a Chinese lantern that I placed there last week,

Amazing that it is November and the Lilies still blooming,

Even after the frost we had this morning.

A little mango tree with some lantanas around. Nikon D3300 + Sigma 70-300 at full focal length of 450mm (considering DX crop factor). ISO 200, f/5.6, 1/100 s, no tripod.

The Macro Mondays theme for tomorrow, 8/8, is music and we were tasked with shooting a real musical instrument. Sadly, that is not something we have an abundance of, but my DD found three small shiny maracas. I shot a picture of them longitudinally for another group (see the comment box later) but thought I’d try them from the top. Look how sparkly that turned out!!.

Btb, it isn’t often that I use the flash but that, combined with some surface dust, made this fascinating!!

……..💙🎼🎹🎺🎻HMM 🎶💙

We had a fantastic Sunday yesterday, at 74F ever Butterflies were coming back, besides this Painted Lady there were Monarchs and Cabbage whites fluttering around the garden,

I with I had deadhead my Butterfly bushes, only have couple flowers from a younger plant.

September lymphoma awareness month, the ribbon is the color of my Japanese Hinoki,

Finally I posted for Lymphoma, Obviously I am partial to this,

14 years since my enlarged spleen, 5 years in remission with all my numbers normal, had my checkup Monday,

From the start my attitude played big role for me as it did for my triple Bypass, going to work every day and still can fly:-)

Please be aware and care by giving to your local Charities.

Out of the five Hinoki trees I got 4 doing fine and this is the masterpiece by the pond,

The Butterfly is newborn from the Butterfly garden.

That makes me happy.

Please see the link to see the Hinoki from the roof,

Have you ever seen the grass so green? It is not on the other side of the fence. Neither is the shiny limegreen leaves nor the almost white trees.

Enjoy the coming week, flickr friends....thanks for stopping by! Pat xo...

....still sticking pretty close to home...and my shots will reflect the flowers I've bought. Happy to say, I'm learning a lot about use of natural light, color, etc. A light touch of Photo Shop and cropping....

(I think spring has finally arrived to stay :)

As we strolled a neighborhood in San Diego, California, we approached this garden with its fresh lime-green leaves but the arbor surrounded by the flowering bushes and trees was where our eyes were drawn . . . and it is one of those places I sometimes visit in my dreams.
