Hello there,
I couldn't help but notice this lily which seemed to positively glow from the backlit conditions. To add a bit of contrast, I slightly darkened the background.
Thank you for stopping by and for leaving me a comment! Have a wonderful day!

Hello Everyone,
This is perhaps the palest yellow daylily that I've ever seen. I found this flower at a local park last summer.
Thanks a million for stopping by and for leaving a comment! Have a wonderful day!

Lily legends - many stories, myths and legends have been composed about these beautiful flowers. Since ancient times, people have worshiped the lily as one of the most beautiful creatures on earth. Even the wish for well-being sounded like this: "May your path be strewn with roses and lilies." A symbol of hope in Ancient Greece, peace and purity in Rus', and in France these flowers meant mercy, compassion and justice.
The rose is rightfully called the queen of the flower world, since ancient times it has become an object of reverence and admiration.
The flower was already known in ancient Egypt. During the meeting of Cleopatra and the commander Mark Antony, the floors of the hall in her palace were covered with a layer of rose petals almost half a meter thick. In ancient Greece, this flower was considered a gift from the gods. And it was the rose petals that enveloped the beautiful Aphrodite emerging from the sea. The Olympian gods, being in admiration, sprinkled their nectar on the flower, and since then the rose has received its pleasant smell.
A rather pretty lily that I spotted on a neighbourhood walk. There were lots of buds so the show would've lasted for quite some time.
Thank you so much for taking the time to view this image and for leaving me a comment! Have a great day!
I don't really know the official name of this little lake but I call it Lily Lake obviously because of all the lilies, lol.
Lily - a royal flower with a rich history.
Historical references to this flower are found from 1700 BC. Images of lilies on frescoes and vases were popular in ancient Greece, in Egypt and Rome. In Persia, these flowers were decorated with lawns and royal courts. And the capital of ancient Persia was called Suzu city of lilies.
The history of this flower is surprisingly rich, interesting and sometimes contradictory.
Lilies - a very common symbol in Christianity. Many saints are depicted on icons with a branch of this flower. For example, the Archangel Gabriel on the Day of the Holy Annunciation, and of course, the Virgin Mary (the icon "Fadeless Color")
Orange-red lilies symbolized the blood of Christ. According to the ancient legend, the white lily changed color on the night before the Savior’s execution. Proud and beautiful, she could not stand Christ’s humble gaze when he leaned over her. She was ashamed, and she blushed. Since the legend has it, with the onset of night the red lilies lower their heads and close the petals.
And yes! It is not by chance that this photo was taken on the territory of the Orthodox Epiphany Monastery. City Uglich. Russia.*
