It was wet today, and I walked around the yard between showers. Took some shots of these lilacs, with the raindrops.
My son planted this gorgeous double lilac some years ago when his best friend died, and under its roots are a selection of memories - his favourite chocolate bar, an Asterix book, some of his writings, etc.
Lilacs are in full bloom now. I love their smell... :)
Bzy już są w pełni kwitnienia. Uwielbiam ten ich zapach... :)
I am always complaining that I never see any lilacs. I just seem to miss them during my travels. Imagine my surprise when I see a lilac bush in full bloom in Alaska! Can you tell I was ecstatic!

Fortunately, Lilac-breasted Rollers are common birds that I’ve seen in both eastern and southern Africa. They post up on shrubs and trees and hawk insects in the air and on the ground. I was told that they get their name from mating display flights which I saw for the first time on this trip. One will fly high in the air and perform a nice acrobatic roll over. I’m not sure if it impressed the gal it was going for but I was sure impressed. (Coracias caudates) (Sony a1M2, 200-600mm lens @ 600mm, f/6.3, 1/2000 second, ISO 1600)
