Sadie gave me this Aster from Bustani. Love how fresh & lovely it remained even after our first deep freeze several weeks ago. Temps down to 19 that night. The few remaining butterflies were also appreciative.
Symphyotrychum laeve 'Bluebird'
Bustani Plantfarm Catalog provides:
Plant Description:
The species Aster laevis is native to most of the United States and Canada, including Oklahoma. The selection ?Bluebird' was made by Dr. Richard Lighty of the Mt. Cuba Horticulture Center in Delaware and is an excellent choice for the garden. We've had it for a number of years in our display beds where it produces huge flower heads of about one inch in diameter which are more blue than purple. Probably the most amazing thing about this perennial is that it doesn't run or spread, even in moist fertile soil. Bluebird is a top choice plant wherever you want a butterfly attracting, fall-blooming and well-behaved perennial.
Exposure: Sun
Size: 36` x 30`
Zones: Zone 4-10
Water: Moderate to low moisture
Origin: North America
Butterflies: Yes

Day Twenty One:
You may want to hold on to your belongings, I'm feeling a touch light fingered at the moment. But I jest. I wouldn't go stealing stuff from you. The weight from the pilfering guilt would make it impossible to get off the ground and I'm already fair astounded these things can do it in the first place.
Ah but flying though the air, feeling the wind in your hair, like you don't have a care, and time to spare, but look over there....splat. Well that was unfortunate. Painful too. Those clouds look like they're soft and fluffy but you hit them at speed it stings like a really stingy thingy. Sort of like being slapped in the face with a thousand wet towels.
Then again being hit with a thousand wet towels might not sting at all. The sheer magnitude of towel hitting towel as they try to find the target would lead to a mooshing of wetness and probably end up with more of a smothering which is what you get when you fly really slowly through clouds, well that and dirty looks from Greecian thunder Gods and the occasional harp playing angel and once you've seen a harp playing an angel you know the thin air it getting to you and it's time to come in for a landing.
Someone should probably mention that to the flying elephant too.

Wading through old pics that are mostly rubbish and came across this from a business trip to New York. Rap video being recorded.
Shot when I knew very little and was experimenting with exposure, rear synch flash and a joby gorilla pod I think.
It's interesting enough to make me wonder whether I could get some more interesting results by shying away from the fast prime street shooting norm and experimenting with other techniques. What do you think?
These testicals tasted great !! I ate them at first raw at a Hmong Market near my house. I bought a big bucket full. For this sandwich, I first lighty sauteed the testicals in extra virgin olive oil, with sea salt and Worsteshire flavored black pepper. I then put them on a sandwich with Kraft Olive Oil Mayonnaise, Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard, a sliced tomato, and a piece of sliced swiss cheese.
This sandwich tasted great and I will be eating a lot more chicken testicals. Even my girlfriend liked me better after eating this sandwich. Forget Viagra. Just kidding.
Me vendieron. A veces, incluso menos.

While I was in Spain, I always ate Spanish Tortillas. They were so good and available everywhere. I found a recipe and decided to make it for an appetizer at a BBQ.
2 lbs of mixed potatoes (purple, red and yellow) *
1 large white onion
1/3 cup sliced red bell peppers
olive oil
9 eggs
chopped parsley
Wash and thinly slice the potatoes and start layering them in a bowl.
In a skillet, start frying the potatoes in olive oil until they lighty break under the pressure of the spatula you are using.
Drain the pototoes in another bowl with paper towels to soak the excess oil. Set aside.
Take your eggs and beat them together in a large bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste. Add bell peppers. Set Aside.
Chop up your onions and saute them in what's left of the olive oil in the skillet. If there is loads of oil left, get rid of some of it as you really only need a tablespoon or two. Put in Egg mixture.
Stir your egg mixture and slowly place your fried potatoes in the mixture.
In a 9-inch skillet, over low-medium heat, start placing the potatoes/onions evenly and in layers. (I recommend you coat the pan evenly with a non-stick spray or use the skillet to fry the pototoes or onions-a little bit of oil will be left) The eggs will stick to the potatoes, so you know you will have egg inbetween the layers. Repeat until all the potatoes are in the skillet. Afterwards, you can pour the remaining egg mixture on top.
Then you wait until the sides are golden brown and you will notice that the egg is starting to cook.
Once you think most of the tortilla is cooked, you can try to flip it in the same pan (yeah right) or place it on the bottom rack of your broiler and keep an eye on it (so that it doesn't burn).
Once the tortilla is cooked, place a plate bigger than the skillet upside down and flip the skillet over. Tortilla should easily fall out. Let it cool.
Best served cold.
Spinkle fresh chopped parsley on top. Slice and serve.
This tortilla is cut in cubes for a party, but obviously you can slice it like a cake to serve with a salad for a dinner party or something.
* I just happen to use these potatoes, russets work just as well:)

Mount Cuba is a botanical garden and the former home and family estate of Lammot du Pont Copeland (great-great-great grandson of the DuPont Company founder) and his wife, Pamela Cunningham Copeland. In 1935, the Copelands built a stately Colonial Revival manor house near the village of Mt. Cuba, outside of Wilmington, Delaware. The Copelands were prominent members of the community. Mr. Copeland served as President and Chairman of the DuPont Company, while Mrs. Copeland was a leader in many community and cultural organizations. During the late 1930s, formal areas were designed first by the prominent Philadelphia landscape architect Thomas W. Sears and later, in the 1950s, by noted landscape designer Marian Cruger Coffin.[2]
In the 1960s, the Copelands were becoming acutely aware of a changing land ethic and they became more interested in ecology and the need for conservation. Mrs. Copeland, in particular, was increasingly concerned about wildflowers and the impact on them by development and unscrupulous practices. In response, landscape architect Seth Kelsey was hired to develop the woodland wildflower gardens with native plants, design their ponds, and plan many woodland garden paths.
In 1983, Dr. Richard Lighty was hired by the Copelands as their first Director of Horticulture. The Copelands expanded their horticultural endeavors to study native plants of the Appalachian Piedmont, the beginnings of a botanic garden on a private estate. That same year, Mr. Copeland passed away. In the late 1980s, Mt. Cuba Center began hosting visitors by offering docent-led tours during the spring. Mt. Cuba Center horticulturists also began documenting their increasingly diverse native plant collections.
In 2001, Mrs. Copeland died. Mt. Cuba Center was no longer a botanic garden on a private estate but a public garden for all to be inspired about native plants. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003.

The Spirit of Life Memorial was commissioned by Katrina Trask to honor her late husband, financier, philanthropist and patron of the arts Spencer Trask for his role in preserving the mineral waters of Saratoga. On June 26, 2015, exactly 100 years after the statue was unveiled, the city held a rededication ceremony for the recently restored statue. The sculptor of the bronze statue was Daniel Chester French. The statue is a figure of a draped and winged woman, with her hands poised high above her head. The figure represents Hygieia, the giver of health who usually appeared in Greek and Roman art. The goddes is poised lighty on a rock and a stream of water pours from its cleft. Her left hand holds a pine branch which is Mr. Trask's symbol. In her right hand the figure holds a bowl of healing water which typifies the spirit of awakened life in the waters of the springs. The pedestal is a sculptured reproduction of the tyfaceous deposits seen about the orifice of many of Saratoga's famous springs. It is located in Congress Park in Saratoga Springs, NY. (SS/145)

"¡Holaaa enfermera!" acierto a decir... No sé qué ocurrió luego...

Chicken Cashew Nuts recipe:
By:danakochan
Serves :3-A-JIN, 4-JPEOPLE(ONLY HALF JOKING)
Amount Ingredient Preparation Method
4 tablespoons soy sauce(low sodium ok)
2 tablespoons cornstarch
3 pieces chicken breast, no skin, no bone, cut 1/8 inch strips then bit size pieces.
1 tbl olive oil
1/2- 3/4 cup cashews, dry-roasted lighty salted ok.
1 onion
1 halved or quartered and sliced zucchini
(or 1 cup green beans or 1 cup asparagus)
2mediumcarrots
1 1/2 stalks celery, sliced
2 tablespoons garlic minced
1 cup chicken broth(you can replace with water in a pinch)
2 tbl fresh ginger juice (scrape ginger shavings off with spoon, squeeze out juice from scrapings with hands)
4 tbl of mirin, sake or wine (you can omit in a pinch or add grape/apple juice instead)
Prepare chicken and veggies, by cutting them into desired sizes. keeping the raw chicken and each of the veggies separated.
Combine soy sauce, ginger, garlic, (either mirin/sake/wine/juice) and set aside . Add the oil to the very hot pan. Add chicken and stir fry 3 - 4 minutes until beginning to brown. Add vegetables, starting with the hardest one and stirring then the next hardest one, incorporating each as you go. Cover and cook 3 minutes, shaking the wok or stirring in electric skillet occasionally to prevent vegetables from sticking, but giving some edges some brown coloring and seal them. Pour in the chicken broth, stirring occasionally an additional 5-7 minutes. When your veggies are the desired softness for your taste. Add soy mixture and mix well, stir until thickened . You may adjust taste by adding water until desired consistency and saltiness. Stir in cashews or add on top at table. Serve over a bed of rice, couscous or orzo.

These are Hobo Eggs.
Lightly grease griddle with olive oil (you can use butter but olive oil is better for you). Heat gridle to a medium heat. Then take out a juice glass, some glass with a small diameter and cut the center out of the bread. Lightly brush olive oil over pieces and bread. Place bread on hot griddle. Wait a bit to brown and then crack eggs into middle. I used one complete egg and then 1 egg white only. (To keep the cholestrol down) You can't really use egg white substitute for these. Then just let cook till egg is cooked half way through and bottom is solid, flip. Let cook the till other side is brown. Plate up, lighty salt and enjoy.
