~ Someone made me to Explore! Tuesday, July 21, 2009 positon # 108! Thank You so much!!! ~

I was talking to my co-workers during lunch today about light painting and how relaxing it was. One of them said that it sounded like therapy, hence the title. :-) Hope everyone is having a relaxing middle of the week. :-) Image taken using strobe lights and Plexiglas with a black background.

I made this picture over a Year ago, when hiking in the saxon switzerland to get some great sunrise-photos

pour lutter contre la grisaille des jours pluvieux :-)

We got one of those special lamps that simulate daylight (for us).

A couple of the cats really like it.

Charlie is one of them.

This morning, I brought my car to the garage, because someone (didn't left a note) damaged it. (€ 800 !) So I went, it's about 6 km. from my home, and walked back along the creek. With mixed feelings I walked there (and of course with my small camera) and suddenly the sun came through and brought a smile upon my face. So this light was a type of therapy for me. Someone above the clouds is watching over me; I know that for sure! View my therapy on LARGE please!

Some history of this haunted historic location (taken from the Wildwood Sanitarium website):

"Wildwood Sanitarium was built in 1900 and bought by doctor John Henderson and doctor Carol Perry in 1903. The two doctors went to college for osteopathy, a branch of medical practice that emphasizes the treatment of medical disorders through the manipulation and massage of the bones, joints, and muscles. Dr. Henderson along with his partner Dr. Perry and a staff of three nurses Bertha , Agnes, and Sue spent seven years preparing the building to house twelve full time patients along with people seeking treatments in their renovated bath house located in the basement. When it was opened as a holistic private hospital in 1909 They offered cold baths , hot baths, electric battery baths, light bath therapy and other homeopathic treatments. They treated all types of patients with various ailments such as drug addiction, alcoholism, mental issues or they needed treatment for another non contagious disease all were welcome. Walter Freeman also performed lobotomies during this time. The doctors were eventually forced by the state to open up as a sanitarium to treat Tuberculosis in 1923 due to the pandemic at the time. Dr. Henderson passed away in 1941 it was owned by his family until 1946. Dr. Perry also passed in 1941 he was only fifty six. Both doctors had been married while Dr. Perry had no children Dr. Henderson had three but lost two of them but had been married twice. His first wife had passed away. The early 1950's the building became three apartments and stayed apartments for thirty years and afterwards was owned by different families and had sat vacant a couple of times. The building was bought by the Wagatha family in 2017 which is now currently an active restoration project funded by being open for paranormal investigations."

Berlin today: 5°C max. and heavy rain all day long...so I thought a little light therapy would be advisable...

Everyone needs a bit of sunshine in their lives. I was fortunate enough to witness this rose receiving its own light therapy to re-energize and beautify...

Here is a different view of my backlit nativity scene, more appropriate, if you'd like to use it as seasonal computer wallpaper. Blessed Advent & Merry Christmas to you all!

Sasha was being pushy this afternoon wanting her treats. They were sitting on the TV tray next to my light therapy box. She accidently pushed the power button and I was blown away by what it did to her eyes. I can't believe she didn't look away when I grabbed my camera. You can see the light box reflection in her eyes.

Montreal Winter Light Therapy 2013.

Visited Cel and her new little man today. He was born Saturday while we were busying mixr-ing.

They are still at the hospital with the little man getting Light Therapy. They are both doing well otherwise and she misses flickr.

Benjamin's arrival was not without it's complications.

Unexpectedly elevated blood pressure meant that I spent the 36 hrs of labor on my left or right side. No walking. No warm shower or tub. No change of position. Lots of IVs and monitors, cervadil, pitocin, and, eventually, an epidural and, when that didn't help, a c-section.

The combo of a c-section and my milk not coming in led to jaundice, 6 nights in the hospital, and many hours under the blue bili lights for little man.

He kept pulling off the mask over his eyes, so we pulled his little beanie down to his nose to keep him covered up. When he became inconsolably upset at being alone and mostly naked under the lights, we would cuddle him up on our laps, pull the lights in over him, and keep trying. It was a long few days.

A task light in use. Check out Lark, a smart light for waking up and staying up: heylark.com
