Rewire is complete. New fittings look good, but house a complete tip. Everything covered in dust and dirt, electricians dust sheets were clearly of the invisible variety and as we all know that type aren't really effective.

Very few shots this week as just returned from Manila on the Monday and then spent rest of the week feverishly dealing with a dose of dysentery, while moving between various house as things seemed to conspire to make this period as hard as possible. There is probably a story in it somewhere, but I think I'll let the dust settle before trying to understand it.

When I move, I will miss the mysterious secret worlds described by the sunset on the walls of my apartment.

Again, the red is true to the actual color in this shot. The switchplate was a gift from my mother.

I was struggling for a photo of the day and it was 10:30 pm. Forgive the boring subject.

While they were doing the wiring for the smoke detectors upstairs, we had them add more neutral wires so we could convert some of the upstairs lights to insteon switches.

Now there will probably not be any updates until sometime next week, with work on either the cabinets or counters.

No, it's not perfect. But it's a sunny, high-ceilinged apartment with hardwood floors and a claw-foot tub and neat architectural details in a perfect-for-me location at an affordable price. I can easily replace this switchplate for a dollar or two, as with the lightbulb in the kitchen that needs replacing. The "textured" look of the apartment's ceiling and walls from painted-over cracks and peels is indicative of the fact that it's handmade and unique, and is not to be considered a defect.

I've been living in an older home for several years, and I respect their tenacious longevity. The weight of time has not settled easily on this building, but she seems to be wearing her wrinkles with a certain amount of dignity.

I had to take a photo cause this lightswitch was too awful, yet kinda cool for a photo! And this also shows the terrible walls in this house!
