Happy Slider Sunday!
HSS! a little nostalgia as fall fades into winter. Of course, here it is hard to tell if it is fall or summer or winter. Snow a couple of days ago and below freezing temps, then warm days and nights. Maybe they gave up the ghost because they couldn't figure out what season this is!
Another macro from this weeks theme processed in a black and white preset in Lightroom.
Happy Slider Sunday!
I had some fun with some of the new presets in Lightroom yesterday. I used one of the Cinematic choices for this grassland image from a past visit to Corkscrew Swamp in Naples, FL.

On a past ride through Myakka River State Park we got caught in quite a storm. The sky was very eerie and I snapped a shot before the rain came down!

Pompeii (/pɒmˈpeɪ(i)/, Latin: [pɔmˈpeːjjiː]) was an ancient city located in what is now the comune of Pompei near Naples in the Campania region of Italy. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum and many villas in the surrounding area (e.g. at Boscoreale, Stabiae), was buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79.
Largely preserved under the ash, the excavated city offered a unique snapshot of Roman life, frozen at the moment it was buried,[1] and an extraordinarily detailed insight into the everyday life of its inhabitants, although much of the evidence was lost in the early excavations. It was a wealthy town, enjoying many fine public buildings and luxurious private houses with lavish decorations, furnishings and works of art which were the main attractions for the early excavators. Organic remains, including wooden objects and human bodies, were entombed in the ash and decayed leaving voids which archaeologists found could be used as moulds to make plaster casts of unique and often gruesome figures in their final moments of life. The numerous graffiti carved on the walls and inside rooms provide a wealth of examples of the largely lost Vulgar Latin spoken colloquially at the time, contrasting with the formal language of the classical writers.
Pompeii is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Italy, with approximately 2.5 million visitors annually.[2]
I took this along Wading Bird Way at Circle B Bar Reserve a couple years ago. I used one of the presets in Lightroom to add the Fall color pallet. I like the way the flowers in the background seem to glow in the evening light.
Thank you for all your comments and support and the group invites!
Happy Slider Sunday and have a blessed day friends!
Way back in the archives. The old Anna Maria Island Pier at sunrise. This pier was destroyed in one of our recent hurricanes. It has been rebuilt. That is the Sunshine Skyway in the background.

My long range plan is to go through 11 years of old photos, throw a lot away, and rework the best ones in Lightroom. This was made from a color photo using a preset I created and applied.
HFF! practicing with a real camera with lenses and all that stuff. Need to relearn everything I forgot with point-and-shoot cameras
Checked out Emerson Point Preserve in Palmetto, FL. This is the view from the observation tower. The repainting of the steel cables has recently been completed and they are a bright yellow. Also corrosion protection was added to the ship impact system on each side of the channel.
I will be away for the week visiting family, but will check in to see your wonderful images. Have a super week and a Happy Slider Sunday!
I used a warm pre-set on this scene at the La Chua Trailhead at Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park near Gainesville, FL.
I have been dreaming of Fall days with a little chill in the air.
Happy Fence Friday and Happy Slider Sunday! Have a lovely weekend friends!
While on a hike at Oscar Scherer State Park I saw a bird land on a far off tree and wondered what it was. I used my zoom to check it out and I guessed a hawk of some kind, but then I saw its profile and I thought, that is a Kestrel. When I got the picture on the computer and started messing with the sliders and bringing out its colors I discovered I was right. You can see the orange on the back and the black and white on the side of the head. It was very far out, but I haven't seen or captured one before, so I kept it. I thought it would work for Slider Sunday since I really had to take advantage of some presets and sliders!
Thank you all for your comments and support!
Happy Slider Sunday to you all!

What happened to his riding companion? Did he have a riding companion? Both bikes look to be for a person his size...Is there a mystery here?

We have had below freezing temps for I don't know, maybe 10 years in the past month? They promise us it will warm to slightly above freezing this next week! And then it will freeze again! Pfah!

It really is difficult to get a feeling for the complexity of the colors and the noxious fumes blowing in your face and the amazing plants which tenaciously grow in and alongside the seething wetlands. You can see where the plants started and did well for a while and then became victims of the changing patterns of geothermal activity.
Mosses and lichen seem to do well in this area though. That hillside is covered with mossy goodness.
