We saw a lot of amazing sunsets and huge cruise ships while on Santorini. Here's a photo of both of those things, shot in Imerovigli while this ship was passing through the warm yellow light path created by the sunset.

I remember feeling a little uneasy as I walked back through the woods on this December evening well after the sun had disappeared below the horizon. I'd underestimated how long the walk would take and, unusually, I didn't have the dog with me - it would've been unfair to ask her to walk that far at her time of life - and that only added to my unease. I'll remember to bring a torch next time!

Sunrise looked promising, but down the hill, fog blanketed the landscape, and I could scarcely see across the reservoir. But Riley was happy, so I hung around, listening to the waterbirds' dawn chorus, and snapping some misty trees, diminishing in the fog.

Suddenly there was an unearthly light on the far water, and spasmodically a misty sun appeared. This was taken nearly one hour after sunrise time.

Another from my evening out with the camera, this time the more densely tree populated forest, light levels were low so when I spotted the light trails across the foliage I made my way there to make the most of the light.

It was thrilling to see the sun path picking out Bluebells and Ferns on the LCD but even more so when I downloaded onto my big screen at home. I still have some more images to come from that evenings adventure.

The brightly lit edge won't bent under his weight as he is, light itself... :-)

I take travel so much for granted, the ability to fly around the world and take pictures. Whilst we all lock ourselves away, I have decided to post some shots, that for whatever reason I was on the fence about and didn't post, or did and removed, from various countries from around the world. Stay safe and this ones for Portugal, Englands oldest ally.....

Some background on the toxic microalgae bloom that stayed along the south coast from the Coorong, Victor Harbor to Kangaroo Island to York Peninsula during the autumn months.

The micro-algae bloom is currently breaking up due to the early winter storms and the lower temperatures on the surface of the shallow coastal and gulf waters. The toxic micro-algae bloom has killed a lot of shell-fish, fish, seals, penguins and birds and also destroyed parts of the Great Southern Reef. However, the deeper waters around Kangaroo Island have not cooled

Auckland has a really good network of cycle ways, but this part (shared use) is the crown jewel and very distinctive. You can see it lit up a few shots back.

Following the previous picture, here is the view from the Top of the Rock a few minutes after the sunset. As you can see, I had a really nice weather up there. I should say that New York offers great conditions for photography as the weather changes very quickly, due to the proximity of the ocean. Again, the hardest part while processing this picture, was to cool down colors and adjust the natural contrast that was so strong with the city lights everywhere. You can clearly see the famous fifth avenue going from the bottom left to the Empire State Building that create a lightpath in the city. On the middle right, you may see an increase in luminosity, that’s Times Square!

this photo was captured on another great hike. I really like finding such spaces where you can capture those sun rays, which make photo glow. Summer is perhaps the best time to photograph them.

I was at the lake to try to catch some Autumn colours with relatively calm waters.

I saw a single swan, probably the cob, dipping for weed. I watched him sadly, remembering the seven signets that he and his mate had originally produced.

(see -- www.flickr.com/photos/algo/521539126/ )

Suddenly I saw him perk up, and obviously see something over the lake (#2 below), and he steamed off over the water ( below) to greet the second swan, that seemed to have just arrived.

I reckoned it was one surviving daughter, and wondered what had happened to his mate.
