Lightning strikes the Little Rincon Mountains north of Mescal, AZ. If you look to the left of the road on the horizon you will see the Mescal old western movie set where The Quick and the Dead and Tombstone were filmed just to name a few.

Last night, as dusk was setting in, a predicted almighty thunderstorm finally struck and I had an hour or so to head out before my evening meal in a local restaurant. So I quickly donned my hiking boots, waterproof jacket, camera bag, and tripod and I drove a couple of miles up the road and set up the camera in a layby under the tailgate of the car while trying to shelter from the rain.
As the storm intensified, so did my hopes for capturing a decent lightning strike as they were going off all around me. It wasn't until I reviewed my images when loading my equipment back in my car did I see this shot of a strike hit either behind the chapel or indeed strike the bell tower, which is located to the rear of the chapel.
Either way, what a fantastic experience to have captured some fork lightning over such an iconic location in Tuscany. I hope you all like it too.
