The road crosses the desert under a stunning sky full of clouds and light streaks on the land. In the American deserts is easy to view this kind of spectacular scenarios, and it is not possible to get bored photographing them.

Buda Castle Tunnel cuts through Buda Castle Hill allowing access between Clark Ádám Square and Krisztinaváros. At 350 meters long, it is the same length as the Chain Bridge leading up to it and the locals like to say it is where they store the bridge when it rains!

Had this one laying around, a variation of one I posted a while back. Here i shortened the exposure and turned the indoors light off.

Not really, but I haven't figured out how to get the little mutt to haul the tripod on our evening walks.

Streaks of light appear at sunset above Haystack Mountain and the foothills of the Colorado Rockies. Boulder County, Colorado.

It was in these fields in the early 1800s that the Arapahoe Indians, led by Chief Niwot, made their winter home.

From my local town

A history museum housed in a row of half-timbered thatched cottages, dating from the seventeenth century.

I was out in my town in the evening, experimenting with some night photography and I was just about to walk back home and I thought about capturing this building. It took me a quite a few attempts, but I think the light streaks work well against the building.

Transformation

Branches reflect the light. Turn into dark and light streaks.

Long pillars of multicolored light streaking the sky seem like the perfect backdrop for impending alien invasion, but in reality, light pillars are a common effect that can be found all over the world with extreme cold weather, But in SoCal?

Another attempt at this shot. Grainy, but at least you can read the clock.

The iconic Flinder Street Railway Station at Melboune grandly illuminated at night.

Happy Fence Friday!

Austin was one of the more eclectic places I've ever seen.Towering skyscrapers and trailer parks, hiking trails and dive bars, bustling streets and rental bikes. After a night of live music and bar hoping I wandered down the hill back toward the river and came upon this view. I think it shows what a small and sudden city this is, it just appears like an oasis and it was a blast, wish we'd had more time. The streaks btw are a rental bike and a rental scooter, they are EVERYWHERE!

The timing was crucial for this shot, as I had to estimate the ferry's speed and the time it would take to pass through the opening in the moles and to give me the light streaks in the process. As you can see, I didn't get it perfectly right, but it still is good enough for the image to work.

I stole the idea to photograph a passing ferry like this from Michael Kenna. 😇

"I'm looking through the windows

And my mind goes in a whirl

Well there's a multitude of candles

Burning in the windows of this world

I'm looking at the colours

Checking out the straights

I'm counting out the numbers

Will tomorrow never change?

Still I hear you and I love you

And I'll follow you elsewhere

And I'll remember this occasion

I'll remember being aware" - Street Fighting Years, Simple Minds

I don't know that this properly qualifies as a street rather than a shared driveway, but it has a name.

Light streak of an airplane taking off at London City Airport (LCY).

While visiting Valley of Fire State Park we made a resupply trip to the small town of Overton, Nevada. Sunday evening, not much traffic, very few people about. I parked in a McDonalds parking lot and set up my tripod for this shot. I liked the straight on perspective because i saw the people inside, through the front door.

A weedy wildflower close to the ground catches the morning light streak across it but the surround is left with little light then drops off for a natural dark backdrop.

Took this at Union station, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

The CN tower is once the tallest freestanding architecture in the world.

The train happened to be passing by which created the light streak.

It was perishing cold on the side of Mam Tor after dark and for a long time no cars appeared. And then I spotted the flashing orange lights of a road gritter coming up the road. I thought, "Oh wow! what great luck, It's going to leave a brilliant trail of light through the 'S' s and off down the Edale valley". With shutter on Bulb, ISO100 and f22 I held the shutter open for over two minutes, while I temporarily stopped shivering with anticipation of a great shot. And then when I checked the shot there was a big 'S' across the image, but why wouldn't it open to include the hills and skyline behind, and the lights further down the valley?. "Awww Shi......." Somewhere along the way with my cold hands I switched to the cropped sensor and I had only captured the centre part of what was in the viewfinder. Damn, that ruined everything. How many times have I done that sort of thing: ruined the shot because I didn't check basic settings? Note to self: you're an idiot!
