We know that sometimes life can be hard for young people and things can go wrong that you may find difficult to cope with. That is why we are raising awareness of emotional health and wellbeing issues and reminding you that there are little things you can do to help improve your mood. yps.lancashire.gov.uk/lifesupsanddowns

Young people from Lancashire have been celebrating their success in helping others to stay fit and healthy.

A celebration event organised by PULSE, Lancashire Young People's Health and Wellbeing Board, was held at Preston North End's Deepdale ground yesterday (Thursday 26 March).

The event was a chance to look back on three projects:

* An energy drinks campaign, where young people created a performance poem which highlighted health problems that can be caused by drinking too many energy drinks.

* A campaign to improve young people's emotional wellbeing called #lifesupsanddowns. Flashmob performances by young people at Preston's Fishergate Centre and local schools helped to spread messages about what young people can do to improve their mood. Teaching packs, posters and key rings were also handed to local schools.

* The Lancashire Young Filmmakers competition, where young people at schools, colleges, youth groups and other venues made short film clips highlighting things people can do to improve their emotional wellbeing.

The activities were designed and coordinated by PULSE, with support from Lancashire County Council.

County Councillor Matthew Tomlinson, cabinet member for children, young people and schools, said: "It's great that young people are doing so much to improve people's health.

"By using film, music, dance and poetry, they've really brought health and wellbeing issues to life and are helping others make changes that can improve their physical and emotional wellbeing.

"Well done to all the young people who have been involved in these schemes."

Georgia Swarbrick, aged 17 from Chorley, has been involved with the PULSE projects: "The highlight of my time at PULSE so far is definitely the flashmob, I'm sure that everyone who took part would agree that it was a major success.

"The celebration event that PULSE held brought many of the people we have worked with together.

"Seeing everyone together at the celebration event proved to me and the other members of PULSE what a positive impact our work has had on so many different people."

“God allows us to experience

the low points of life

in order to teach us lessons

we could not learn

in any other way.

The way we learn those lessons

is not to deny the feelings

but to find the meanings

underlying them.”
