#Translucent

Souvenir seagull figurines hiding behind translucent greaseproof paper, photographed with a Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 35mm f2.8

A sunbeam creeps into the room and catches a camera bag on a chair. I'm watching the footy on TV. The only kit within reach carries my Takumar 200/3.5 and the subject's a bit big for the frame. No worries; grab three frames to stitch and back to the footy. One of those moments πŸ‘€ 😊

I couldn't resist this after reviewing extracting the previous image. The monkey seemed pretty obvious to me and then I noticed the other creature next to it, so why not add some eyes as well? Should I seek help? A touch of silliness on a rainy Saturday morning 😁. Have a great weekend!

A triptych of three refractograms using light from an LED torch refracted/reflected at right angles by the base of a faceted whisky tumbler onto a Sony A7Rii sensor (no lens fitted).

Pentax K5 with no lens; LED LENSER P7qc light source playing on a whisky tumbler; single frame. (Ignore FL in EXIF, no lens was used).

Thank you to everyone who has visited my Flickrstream this year. Whether it's a view, fave or comment, it's always appreciated, and if any of my occasional silliness generated a laugh, then that's a bonus. Happy Christmas.

When I stopped on Cuttagee Head for the star shoot the other night, I noticed the Hilux's odometer. Three times that before it catches up to its predecessor!

COVID Chicks #20

Jezza's just had his first COVID-19 vaccination and is urging his friend to do the same. The Virus is still out there!

All done with mirrors. Camera on tripod, viewfinder reflected in a mirror so that I could get the composition I wanted. Remote shutter release. Noise added to reflect the unpleasant taste of the pliers πŸ˜„

Saw this snake head in the fire last night; or is it ET in trouble? Thought it was appropriate for some Saturday Silliness.

COVID Chicks #21

Yes, I kept a pack of Hot Cross buns in the freezer, but this is the last one, and these two COVID Chicks only got to look at it. Cropped again to exclude the vignetted corners.

Having seen the monkey on the tree, I spotted this cockatoo on the ground ...

Just because you can :-)

This week my uncle was killed. He was shot by an arrow in a park in Kitchener, Ontario- a victim of what appears to be random violence. He was set to retire and live out his days doing the things he loved- he was a beautiful soul who loved culture, reading, and the arts. He had no enemies, he kept to himself, and to fall victim of such a crime left the family in utter shell shock. In fact we’re still in disbelief.

I still don’t know how to express the thoughts and feelings running through my head, other than to say that once again I’m reminded of how short life is- how easily we can be here one day and gone the next. Life’s too short to plan for the things that may never come, so it’s better to live that plan today.

SOOC

Hi everyone!

Well, normally I had another shot for my today's photo (I will post it tomorrow) but before leaving the office I read about a kind of display of 1600 small panda figures outside of the main train station here in Berlin, so I went there to take some photos but unfortunately the figures were not more there, well they were there but not exhibited. Tomorrow they will displayed them again but unfortunately I will not have time to go, anyways, once I was there, I saw this guys and then I saw the bag of the girl and well, I couldn't resist asking her to allow me to take a photo, she agreed and well, here you have my photo of the day...

every night, on my drive home from work, i listen to the radio. i'm not talking about satellite radio, i'm talking about local independent radio stations with real, live deejays you've listened to all your life, who get excited about music, who play new stuff for you because they like it, who make you laugh, who keep the tunes coming.

for example, listening to 107.1, i heard "the bottom line" from big audio dynamite (which made me literally dance in the driver's seat; it was like running into an old friend); like a kid opening a present, i breathlessly waited for what might come next -- and it was "revolution" by the beatles. then the new barenaked ladies song.

now that's what i'm talking about.

i'll leave you tonite with the lyric i quoted in my high school yearbook:

radio's jammed up with gospel stations

lost souls callin' long distance salvation

hey, mister deejay, woncha hear my last prayer

hey, ho, rock'n'roll, deliver me from nowhere

--bruce springsteen, "open all night"

Life's short; stomp in puddles!

for six word story

this probably breaks the six-word story rule, but this also makes me think of this quote:

"you gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face... do the thing you think you cannot do."

--eleanor roosevelt

Bought another box of Splenda that missed the randomizer, and got another 100 little reminders that "Life's Short - Sweeten Up"... Hmmmm...............
