and joy in motion

may it extend...

and for those inclined, Sweet Honey in the Rock singing ' Let their be peace' www.youtube.com/watch?v=FzICwz28qVw&list=LL&index=51 :-)

I'm heading home to spend time with family. My much loved Dad is seriously unwell. So it will be good to be there with my folks and to help out with whatever I can.

Although I may not be loading many images these days

(still in a photography funk) flickr is a treasure to me... of both images and people.

So when I say thank you for the company here, I really mean it.

Seriously... thank you 💛✨

Faces aligned like whispers across time, each profile carrying forward a trace of the last — a silent dialogue between generations.

cast against the wall in morning light, she walks — quiet, unseen, carrying presence in absence. the shape of a mother, a stroller, a gesture. nothing more. and everything.

"Get around town, get around town

Add your voice to the sound of the crowd

Stay in tune with the rhythm and the rhyme"

beneath the clinical grid of a city’s infrastructure, a man moves through shadow with the slow elegance of repetition. there’s no urgency — just the rhythm of necessity, carried in cardboard and plastic.

a woman wrestles with her storm-wrecked umbrella, caught mid-movement, while a man watches from the edge of shadow — still, observant, immovable. two strangers, side by side, each within their own storm.

Nikon F60, 35 mm lens, Fuji 400 colour film and location Vancouver BC. Part of my Vancouver Street photography experiment. I had done a lot of reading on the topic before trying out street photography for myself. This seemed to capture some of the elements, being a candid shoot of life in motion with some kind of story. Following one strategy I read about, I shoot this image from the hip as I was walking. Out of several I took this way, this was the only one I think I will use from the roll. I did ask for permission of anyone that was a central focus point and recognizable in an image. Had a lot of fun with my first attempt at street photography and looking forward to trying it again next month in Shanghai and Seoul.

Watermelon on the Circle Line

A vendor offers slices of watermelon to passengers on Yangon’s Circular Railway.

two silhouettes caught mid-thought, backs turned to the city, as if waiting for a memory to cross the street. their stripes echo down the sunlit facades, rhythmically, like verses by schirach — precise, unspoken, and quietly defiant.

It's a silent alley of Kolkata, not much traversed by cars or pedestrians. Two local boys were playing in the street lights, absorbed in their innocent world. I stood rapt in awe from distance, watching their expression of joy and happiness with simple playing objects.

One from earlier in the month at the Bray Summerfest.

A redo of an earlier post. I like this much better without the mini lights.

A pair of bicycling shorts I got this year had this tag with it and I knew I was going to use it somehow, but not exactly when or how....

Until now.

Keep moving if you can!

Here’s how the commuters spend their time while heading to work. How do you spend yours?

Alltagsmomente in Bewegung

A street performer takes a break on the grass, adjusting his look in a small mirror—a brief pause before stepping back into the act.

As the sun sets and the city transforms, the metro takes on a different persona. Late-night whispers replace the daytime hustle, creating an intimate ambiance. The dimly lit platforms become a sanctuary for quiet contemplation, where the echoes of footsteps tell tales of solitude and reflection.

Streetphotography The Hague

a candid moment captured at a city bus stop, where reflection meets reality. the scene plays with symmetry and color, as the bright yellow and black pattern frames the woman engrossed in her own world. the reflection in the glass creates a dual perspective, inviting the viewer to pause and ponder over the small stories unfolding in the everyday hustle. it's an intersection of urban life, color, and solitude, where even the quiet moments find their voice.

A more accurate title would have been - powerfully built woman carrying a heavy carpet, somehow it wasn't very catchy though.

on paseo del borne, the sun strikes sharply, carving silhouettes into the ordinary. she walks by, wrapped in her beige coat, her silver hair catching the light just enough to glint like a distant memory. ahead of her, two faces loom large—flawless, smiling, promising dreams or beauty in bold letters that no one reads. her gaze doesn’t reach them. maybe it’s deliberate. maybe she has learned long ago that such promises weren’t made for her.

it’s a quiet scene, but it echoes. the tension between the real and the aspirational. the way the soft folds of her coat resist the polished, airbrushed perfection towering above. life on the paseo moves on, but for a second, there’s a story in the disconnect—intimate, unspoken, and human.

Motion/painterly photo to art rendition of a Jeepney passenger.

caught in a fleeting moment, this scene captures a man mid-stride, stepping through the interplay of light and shadow on a sunlit street. his figure is mirrored perfectly in the wet pavement below, creating a dual reality where the ordinary becomes extraordinary. the reflection ripples slightly, as if the street itself were contemplating his movement. the sharp contrast of black and white adds drama, pulling attention to the textures of the wet cobblestones and the crisp silhouette of the walker. the urban backdrop, with its shop signs and shadows, frames the scene, grounding it in the vibrant chaos of everyday city life. it is a moment of quiet poetry amidst the rush, a snapshot of human existence reflected in the heart of the city.

bathed in the afternoon light filtering through grand windows, the train station in hameln, germany, resonates with the steady rhythm of passengers. a group of elderly women, in sync with each other’s pace, make their way toward the exit, eager to return to the comforts of home. the station, a hub of stories and journeys, witnesses the quiet determination of its daily travelers, while shadows stretch across the polished floor, marking the passage of another day in this historic midsize city.
