The delicacies of nature in black and white. Even though these are dying they will bring life through the seeds or as nutrients as they decompose. This is the skeletal remains of two leaves and a Japanese lantern.The two pods that are open are from a hollyhock flower.The round seeds are from these pods.Also a maple seed that are sometimes know as whirl-li-gigs as they spin in the air dropping from trees. Also shown is a dried fir bough and seeds from a candy tuft plant and a dandelion seed head.

Well, I say life, but on close examination I am unable to see anyone. There are several cars in view and a certain amount of washing hanging from balconies but no people in sight.
Ragusa and its sister town of Ibla date back to the late 17th century and have both been built on hill tops with every conceivable square yard of land utilised. They are part of the Noto Baroque region of UNESCO heritage sites to be found in South Eastern Sicily and are a fabulous location to wonder around. From time to time you even bump into a few residents.
It does look pretty at a first glance but give me my old house with its little patch of lawn and flower beds any time.
I head off for the hills to mountain guide in a moment so will be absent from Flickr for a few days.

I told the OH I was just nipping down to the beach to find a daily pic ... 3 hours later I got home :) It was lovely down there and lots of people to chat with and dogs to pet.

This picture was originally pretty dark and hence I had to push the shadows quite a bit. Even though it's not the most prettiest image, I really like it in combination with the quote above. I hope you like it too!
