a swirling tapestry of animals

I uploaded these photos of my Portable Life museum to show it to a Flickr friend. The purpose of this ”journal” is to collect memorabilia from everyday life or travels and little adventures, anything really that can fit in a book. I made the cover with thick paper covered with the green fabric. The text on the front cover is acrylic paint. Since I’m a paper hoarder, I had lots to pick from; so I collected a handfull of papers and envelopes and glued them into the journal. This made the base, to which I can attach the memorabilia - with glue, scotch tape, paper clips, or with a stapler. On one of the pages you can see some of the things from my latest batch of street combing finds. I’d say this journal is half full at the moment, and to be honest - I have no idea what to do with it once it’s full hahaa

but it beats the alternative,so i just gotta live with it >.<

took this for my iphone wallpaper..hehe..

p/s:hate my work...lol..

Last time I was here it was Christmas day and the place was deserted, quite a contrast from the hustle and bustle of a Friday night.

Much better when viewed in the lightbox; click on the image or press 'L' to view.

FYI, it was my friend roasting.

A humpback whale does a tail slap, chinstrap penguins race each other, and black-browed albatrosses glide through the air looking for fish off the coast of Brabant Island on the Antarctic peninsula.

This photo contains seven actual shots from our trip, merged together in one picture. The base image was taken by Harold Moses, a fellow photographer I met on the cruise. While I also had one of a whale breaching, his was far better. The orginal is shown on his site, where you can see his other images from the trip as well. The lead penguins of the group are also his shot.

Although I'm not trying to fool anyone, I liked this one for April Fool's Day. Poor Flickr still can't find Antarctica on the map.

Photo taken in Second Life at the beautiful Alirium. See the rest of my photostream for more shots of Second Life nature.

Though there is much to be concerned about, there is far, far more for which to be thankful.

Though life's grace can at times be overshadowed, it is never outweighed. For every single act that is senselessly destructive, there are thousands more small, quiet acts of love, kindness and compassion. For every person who seeks to hurt, there are many, many more who devote their lives to helping and to healing.

There is a grace in life that cannot be denied. In the most magnificent vistas and in the smallest details, look closely, for that grace always comes shining through. There is no limit to it. It grows more abundant with each new encounter. The more you experience and appreciate it the more there is to be lived. Even when the cold winds blow and the world seems to be covered in foggy shadows, the grace of life lives on. Open your eyes, open your heart, and you will see that goodness everywhere.

Though it seems at times to suffer setbacks, it always endures. For in the darkest moments it becomes vividly clear that life is a priceless treasure. And so the grace of life is made even stronger by the very things that would oppose it.

Time and time again when you feared it was gone forever you found that it was really only

a moment away. Around the next corner Inside every moment, it is there to surprise and delight you. Take a moment to let the grace of life, touch your spirit and calm your thoughts. Then, share your good fortune with another. For it grows more and more magnificent each time it is given away.

Though the problems constantly scream for attention and the conflicts appear to rage ever stronger, the grace of life grows stronger still, quietly, peacefully, with more purpose and meaning

than ever before.

"La vita – è il solo modo

per coprirsi di foglie,

prendere fiato sulla sabbia,

sollevarsi sulle ali;

essere un cane,

o carezzarlo sul suo pelo caldo;

distinguere "il dolore"

da tutto ciò che dolore non è;

stare dentro gli eventi,

dileguarsi nelle vedute,

cercare il più piccolo errore.

Un’occasione eccezionale

per ricordare per un attimo

di che si è parlato

a luce spenta;

e almeno per una volta

inciampare in una pietra,

bagnarsi in qualche pioggia,

perdere le chiavi tra l’erba;

e seguire con gli occhi una scintilla di vento;

e persistere nel non sapere

qualcosa d’importante."
