We have come so far...overcoming feats that were once thought as impossible, yet, we made it possible.
The future is unknown but we must continue on...it will be okay. We'll see....You'll see..
"Let's continue on Scurry..." Sniff whispered.
Feel the fear and do it anyways,
You can move the mountains
Don't even hesitate
An interesting front often makes the mystery of what is hidden behind the door especially fascinating.
(Or it may be I'm just nosey...lol)

The Story of " She Lies" with the Shape of an Iceberg due to the Global Warming ... Archimedes' Principle won't help Rising Seas ...
Monica Bonvicini - "She Lies" ,a symbol of Power & Magnificence in the North.A monumental sculpture,in the fjord in front of the new Opera House in Oslo, built out of stainless steel and glass panels that measure approximately 12 x 17 x 16 m. It is a permanent installation, floating on the water in the fjord on a concrete platform which is 12 metres above the water surface.By turning around its own axis in correspondence to the tides and the wind it offers changing views through the reflections on the mirrored and semitransparent surfaces.
"She Lies" was commissioned by Public Art Norway – KORO,
Norwegian National Opera & Ballet and it represents in a visual striking way the shape of an iceberg,as if one would have, by circumstances due to the Global Warming, ended up in the fjord in front of the Opera House. She Lies is meant to be a monument about change, longing and hope.
* Bonvicini’s sculpture is a three dimensional interpretation of Caspar David Friedrich’s painting "Das Eismeer" 1823-24 (The Sea of Ice )

The General Lying In Hospital in Waterloo. It is now part of the adjacent Premiere Inn Hotel. "Lying In" is an archaic term for childbirth and this was originally the country's first dedicated maternity hospital. It opened in 1767, moving to this site in 1828 and closed in 1971 as such. It was the initiative of a Dr John Leake whose name is now more synonymous with the open graffiti tunnel underneath Waterloo Station in Leake Street.
Basilica Cistern
Istanbul, Turkey
The Basilica Cistern is the largest of several hundred ancient cisterns that lie beneath the city of Istanbul (formerly Constantinople), Turkey. The cistern, located 500 feet (150 m) southwest of the Hagia Sophia on the historical peninsula of Sarayburnu, was built in the 6th century during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Justinian I.
The enlarged cistern provided a water filtration system for the Great Palace of Constantinople and other buildings on the First Hill, and continued to provide water to the Topkapi Palace after the Ottoman conquest in 1453 and into modern times.

A pair of Carolina Wrens, Thryothorus ludovicianus, took a liking to a decoration my wife hung on the door to our garage--a half-bucket filled with realistic faux tulips stuck into styrofoam. The Wrens excavated the styrofoam to hollow out a space for eggs, making a mess outside but apparently a suitable interior. When we realized they were serious about staying, I moved the bucket from the door to a hook on the side of the garage. A little less protected from the weather, but much less in danger of shocks from humans going in and out of the garage. The wrens were confused for an hour, but found the new location and stuck with it. As it turns out, during the current unpleasantness we don't go anywhere anyway, so I could have left it on the door.
Now the parental pair makes continuous trips to feed the 3 chicks, bringing bugs & worms from all over. This morning as I sat on the patio, one of the parents came by and jumped from chair to chair, pausing as if to say, "Who do you think you are, poking that big lens at my 3 chicks?"

The Under-The-Hill Historic District along Silver Street lies just below the Natchez Bluffs in Natchez Mississippi. This area was frequented by gamblers, river pirates, highwaymen and prostitutes in the early 19th century and was once described as "the most licentious spot on the Mississippi River." Natchez is a port city located on the lower Mississippi River in Mississippi. Print Size 13x19 inches.
Never lie, steal, cheat, or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must steal, steal away from bad company. If you must cheat, cheat death. And if you must drink, drink in the moments that take your breath away
A pair of acorns lie on a carpet of moss along with a leaf from a Dogwood and pieces of wood. Ground squirrels (or chipmunks) were garthering and hording acorns for their food supply during the winter while we were vacationing in the Ozarks.

As mentioned in my first upload today, the Stanley Burial Ground opened in 1827 and its last burial was in 1997. It's such a beautiful location and catches the evening sun. You can hear a brief historical account in this audio tour:

There is a long tradition of people collecting epitaphs. This article I find fascinating because it describes the grave of one of my favourite poets, John Keats. Keats was buried in Italy just six years before the first burial here at Stanley. On his gravestone we read these words (you can read it in full on the link):
"Here lies one whose name was writ in water."
www.theparisreview.org/blog/2016/02/23/writ-in-water/
There is also a wonderful epitaph written by Robbie Burns for a friend:
"An honest man here lies at rest,
As e’er God with His image blest:
The friend of man, the friend of truth;
The friend of age, and guide of youth:
Few hearts like his, with virtue warm’d,
Few heads with knowledge so inform’d:
If there’s another world, he lives in bliss;
If there is none, he made the best of this."
Of course there are some funny ones too: www.et.byu.edu/~tom/jokes/Funny_Epitaphs.html
Here are two of my favourites:
"A lawyer's epitaph in England:
Sir John Strange
Here lies an honest lawyer,
And that is Strange."
"Someone determined to be anonymous in Stowe, Vermont:
I was somebody.
Who, is no business
Of yours."
