First Lady Michelle Obama addressing kids, guest and the media during the Seventh Annual White House Kitchen Garden planting event on April 15, 2015. Kids from around the country planted five vegetables : spinach, bok choy, broccoli, lettuce plant and radish seeds.

Mrs Obama started the garden in 2009 to initiate a national conversation about our nation's health. This conversation led to the Let's Move! initiative which started in 2010.

So to celebrate the 5th year of the Let's Move! initiative, the First Lady has launched the #GimmeFive Garden Challenge...to encourage Americans to #GimmeFive things they are doing to lead healthier lives.

The kids all received the same 5 plants and seeds to take back to their school and communities and have been encouraged to grow their own gardens.

So this spring, plant a garden, take a picture as it grows, post your pics to social media and tag it #GimmeFive.
