Ireland is beautiful. This place is called Glendalough, somewhat half an hour south of Dublin. I played a lot with colours in this one but believe it was worth it!

This was some long exposure fun when I was living in Utah, USA for a while. I took position in a bend and had to wait about 25 min for a car to come by. You know how a sunset usually works - sun is high, gets lower, reaches the horizon, disappears - and somewhere in between, there might be some nice colours in the clouds. BUT, the change in colours usually happens relatively gradually. Well, in this case, it didn't. In one moment, the sky was blue and dull, and within 10 seconds (I am not making this up!) everything went purple. It was like someone had changed a setting on a massive mood-light somewhere and switched it to "Oh Yeah". On my last holidays in Paris, I went (of course) to the louvre - what a crowded place! It took me a while to manage to get an image without that many people in the picture but, having said that, I was lucky as the clouds became more dramatic by the minute, hehe. The few people which were there were removed in Photoshop later, so that I ended up with a new background Image for my phone and tablet. Good day, hehe.

Found a little gem in the middle of some random tunnels in London! There was nothing than a brick wall for ages, so I loved the little piece of light and colour in it.

The region of the Amalfi coast in Italy has so much charm! Every village is relatively small, but they all have their own beauty in a way. Take Amalfi itself here for example - it might not be as scenic as Positano, but the wild mountains and the endless walks that one can do around this village are stunning. I spent a good amount of time on the pier this photo has been taken from. When you see this place, where do you think it is? I give you a second here.... You probably thought along the lines of a nature reserve or simply out in the countryside somewhere, right? Wrong. In the middle of Sorrento, Italy, there is a bridge. And when I say in the middle, I mean between the main Plaza and the train station! Now, this bridge goes right across this ruin! If I were to turn around, I would look at about 3 restaurants and the main road plus 24321 little shops that are in the city centre :D I was more than just confused that this would just sit there. There is no way to reach it as well - and it is not maintained in any way, shape, or form. Having said that, it is also kinda awesome to have such a ruin untouched in the city centre. Other places would have made a 20 Euro pp attraction out of this place - but not Sorrento. Good Show Guys! New York is a crazy city for me - I got lost more than once, it is too much to see to even try to plan everything properly... but it also has so many little gems hidden away from plain sight. This tunnel here was somewhere in Central Park (if I remember correctly) and I would have completely missed it if the musician would not have played in there. I tend to follow music when I cannot determine where it comes from - for exactly this reason! Amalfi is a little coast town in Italy - the one that gives the Amalfi coast its name. The awesome thing is that the place is surrounded by mountains, which creates absolutely fantastic scenes like this one. The not so great part is, that in order to get there, you really have to train your legs to make it through the small streets and the bazillion stairs! I found this spot here after I had crawled through the city for hours to get higher up - and I felt like this was the treat I had earned hard after sacrificing my legs, hehe. This Gondola just left one of the many many tiny port areas that you can find all over the place in Venice. Funny thing - did you know that these Gondolas have one side hanging lower in the water than the other? Our driver explained that this is needed for them to keep the balance - but it also creates the feeling that you flip over with the whole boat at any time! I had real trouble getting used to this, hence I barely dared to take pictures during my own odyssey - I just tried not to move. Positano is said to be one of the most pretty and picturesque places in Italy - and indeed, while the place is a dream of a town, I think each small village along the Amalfi coast has its own charm in a way. I went to Positano off-season (like I usually do) and there were no tourists - except maybe 40 or so Chinese tourists that roamed the streets. These were also the guys that left the writing in the sand, hehe. Welcome back! I am happy to talk a little about one of my images taken on my recent trip to Utah, USA. On a weekend trip, my buddy Luis and I have decided to visit a place called the Kanarra Creek Falls. We did hear that it is a pretty intense walk, where you will have to be prepared to get completely wet. Casting this aside, we went in normal street gear and begun a 1.5h walk through a forest. This forest path, however, was only the first step in a walk that would lead into a river. Having the waterfall in mind, we did not have any choice other than moving through this water (cold!) to reach the cave with the fall.
Once we arrived, it felt like being in another world. The red rocks enclosed us fully, and the magic waterfall which presented itself to us created a scene straight out of any fantasy book. On the right, there was a tree that had been rebuild to be some sort of rudimentary stairs to climb on top of the fall. A rope on the site was all that one could use to get some sort of security when climbing the slippery steps. Great when you carry a tripod, camera bag, and camera!
In the end, I managed not to through any of my equipment into the water – a fact I am still very proud of considering I climbed up that tree far too often to find the perfect spot for a picture.

Believe it or not - I hadn't actually seen such wave breakers until I arrived in Amalfi, Italy. I had all kinds of theories as to why these things were on the beach and around the piers, but thinking about them now ... Even if you have never been to New York, I am quite sure you have seen this place - so no introductions needed :) I crossed both, Manhattan and Brooklyn bridge and find that while Manhattan Bridge itself is not very beautiful, it offers better views of the city - but the Brooklyn Bridge has the advantage of just being pretty in itself! You are more limited in taken shots from the city though. This picture is from Amalfi, a little town along the Amalfi coast that I have shown in some images before. The thing is, I was there twice. The first time, it was a very sunny day - the sea was calm, people did their thing, and the occasional couple would take some pictures for Instagram on this very pier. I spent some time there as well watching the sun set. However, the second time I went to Amalfi was a little different and, to be honest, way more fun! Within a day, the weather had changed a lot and the waves came in like cyclists to the doughnut shop (kidding of course)! Some people (including me) tried to walk out to the pier again, but this ended in very wet clothes or... wet gear. I have seen many sunsets, some more crazy than others, and thought I would by now have at least a slight chance to predict how a sunset would look before it happens. Well, Positano in Italy had me in for a surprise! The clouds were grey, it was super windy and the waves rolled into the beach as if they were trying to get people to get the hell away. This was also the reason that the beach was nearly empty by the time it happened - within less than a minute, everything turned from grey to an unbelievably strong purple. I was so surprised that I did not even know what to do for a second - such unseen light and the whole area just for me! However, I knew that something that comes so fast will not last long, so I guessed I had about 5 min to go where I need to go and take the shot. And so I did. After 5 min, the party was over - the sky returned to grey and it became dark as if nothing ever happened. Such moments are exactly what drives me - the shivers, the running, the hoping... Positano has an awesome beach! Granted, it does not have the perfect blue-lagoon sand that allows for living the sloth-life, but nonetheless, it is perfect for hanging out and having a beer. In fact, I had around 4 on the very same spot while waiting for the sun to get low enough to light this little pile of stones that I built around 7 times! Even though during my stay in Venice there were not that many tourists, the main areas still had a good bit of water traffic going on! In fact, some areas were so packed that suddenly you had three lines like on a motorway! The people that run the gondolas are absolutely skilled though - they barely slow down and they can manoeuvre this relatively large boat without any trouble through even the smallest places. Sorrento is a beautiful little city along the Amalfi coast - which is the target for thousands and thousands of tourists every year. The city is not as "pretty" as many other small villages that you can visit along the coast (though it has its charm), but it is a great point to reach the rest of the peninsula from. One day I decided to simply explore the city - no plan, no map, just go. The place is surrounded by a mountain landscape, so I ventured first through the city and then into the mountains, surrounded the city and entered again on the other side. This picture here was taken very close to one of the many beach areas that Sorrento has to offer. Seville is a great place to relax and recharge - or party hard, your pick. However, there are also some great spots for Photography! This is Seville's Plaza Espana - one massive park-like area that features a ginormous half-circle building with two levels. You know the typical picture that you surely have seen where the Manhattan bridge is being photographed with the buildings on the left and right? Well, I got that shot over the day but thought I could get the same at night. Well, turned out that this is not a thing anymore. They have placed massive floodlights in the streets that prevent you from taking pictures there at night! Apparently, the locals had so much trouble with masses of tourists during the night, that they have concluded it is time to end this. No matter though - walk 20 m further towards the bridge and you get this - which still shows how impressive the bridge is, right? Just after New Year and coming back from New York and Germany, I spent some time in Seville, Spain. Now, the plan was to go out there 10h a day and explore the landscape and the city to get some great shots... Yeah, this did not really work out. See, living in Dublin, a beer costs somewhere between 5-7 Euro. In Seville? One Euro. ONE! So, relaxing was what I did instead of taking pictures more often than I wanted to, hehe. Going to Venice off-season is a treat! Not many tourists and plenty of areas to explore without being disturbed in any way. Punta Carena is an area in Capri, Italy, that has one of the most stunning lighthouses plus cliffs I have ever seen. While I will show the lighthouse itself in another picture, the area around the lighthouse is just as beautiful. You have long paths leading to random places (or the beach, at least the one we followed) and you can get properly lost in nature there. Capri is small, so within a day you can really get around and the local bus service is great! They will bring you to all the touristic spots in no time and for very little money - but we have been warned that during the peak-season, you will be like sardines in a can with all the other tourists. I was there off-season, so we had the bus for ourselves, hehe. Bryce Canyon in Utah was one of the greatest places I have ever seen - which makes sense if you have never seen national parks like this at all.
