The Cabo da Roca Lighthouse (Portuguese: Farol de Cabo da Roca) is a beacon/lighthouse located 165 metres (541 ft) above the Atlantic Ocean, on Portugal's (and continental Europe's) most westerly extent (Cabo da Roca). It is located in the civil parish of Colares, in the municipality of Sintra, situated on a promontory that juts out into the ocean, made up of granite boulders and interspersed limestone. It is a third-order lighthouse, which originally began operating in 1772. It was the first new purpose-built lighthouse to be constructed in the country: the older lighthouses in existence at that time, were constructed on existing platforms or from pre-existing beacons.

Featuring: Sweet Thing. Duchess Gown - Fatpack

She walks in beauty, like the night

Of cloudless climes and starry skies;

And all that’s best of dark and bright

Meet in her aspect and her eyes;

Thus mellowed to that tender light

Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,

Had half impaired the nameless grace

Which waves in every raven tress,

Or softly lightens o’er her face;

Where thoughts serenely sweet express,

How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,

So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,

The smiles that win, the tints that glow,

But tell of days in goodness spent,

A mind at peace with all below,

A heart whose love is innocent!

I can't get enough of the takeoff. The movie trailer announcer voice simply saying "head back... let's go". Fantastic.

I have a new homework assignment for my photography class. For our previous assignment we had to take pictures keeping in mind three components: Beauty, Meaning and Format (remember my Mallet Finger). For this assignment, we add Creativity. The instructor said Creativity is what brings life to a picture and makes it uniquely our own with concepts like freshness, humor, "interpretation that overwhelms translation"... "Creativity is born when necessity meets constraint".

So, our assignment is to choose any theme (word, object, concept, color, relationship... ANYTHING) and photograph it 15 different ways and then take one of those pictures and INTERPRET it 10 different ways. The idea is by the time we get to the end of this assignment we are going to be forced to think outside the box because we will have run out of obvious ideas.

My theme is "Travel" which is appropriate because a week from today, I'm going to be traveling to a place that requires a passport. More on that later.

FYI, I've taken three travel pictures, have ideas for three more and then I'm stuck. This assignment will require, in the end (approximately three weeks from now) 25 pictures and I'm out of ideas after six. YIKES!

Creative "Travel" ideas are welcome! ;D

One wanted to rush away, but the other was too entranced to move, I'm with the one on the right, unless I really have to get somewhere! :-))))

Quick comment, I had other versions of this, where both subjects were in total dark silhouette, but I liked this best as the subject on the right appears to be illuminated and I kind of dug it considering the overall feel of the image and that she seemed to be absorbing the glow, if you know what I mean. I bring all this up because of the image I had posted called BuddingPhotographers where I talked about my inability to not completely leave all the figures in complete blackout silhouette (there were a few barely noticeable spots of light, but I am picky). With this one, it was completely controllable and intentional that I left it as you see it here.

In summary, I am not changing a pixel on this, it is as it should be! :-))))

Oh and, the jury is in and apparently everyone is in agreement that Ken Rockwell knows nothing about what might be "good" bokeh, at least not when it comes to its impact in creating a good image!!

BTW...Let us not forget it is....THURSDAY!! Yeah!!! :-))))

Hopla ! After 2 years of work, here is finally the monumental underground headquarters of batman : The Batcave

Here are photos of the batcave without the light effects

I realized that there were several possible interpretations to determine Batcave's style. I decided to go for a rather classic version with a cave atmosphere!

The base of the Batcave is on 2 plates of 48x48 but in the end, it is much bigger! It is about 1.70m long and I have added LEDs all over the building.

We obviously find in this Batcave, the great classics of the Batman universe, the Batmobiles (different eras), the Bat-computer, the bat-armory, etc... and the supervillains of course!

I came across some Ramones T-shirts in a sports shop when looking at Football boots for my lad. Merchandise for a punk rock band that were formed in 1974 seems rather strange to be sold in such a place I thought!
