back in the beginning of the year, i spent a couple of naptimes writing a song in the back of my planner. i'd just started dating a boy a few weeks earlier and was trying to somehow sum up the way it felt to be so completely giddy about someone, while also being totally terrified and trying to play it really cool because i'm a huge nerd who knows nothing about boys at all. it's called "things i can't tell you yet." it has harmony and glockenspiel and handclaps and an instrumental break. it's sweet and funny and really kind of charming.

if you've heard any of my songs, you know that i kind of just throw everything out there, and this was no exception. i was totally dumped just before i shared this song with the boy, and for that i feel grateful, because, man, wouldn't that have been embarrassing.
