I would like to take the opportunity to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas. I am GRATEFUL to all of you for your constant uplifting support and huge encouragement that you have given me. I so much appreciate you all.
As you all probably have noticed, I haven't been very active here on Flickr the past year and even less the past 6 months, and I haven't shared many Pictures in 2024.
My focus has been more or less in my RL. I have take up doing pictures in RL when ever I am out hiking or just walking.
Some of those pictures I have even shared with you here on Flickr, I have wanted to give you all some glimpse of my RL.
It has been a very hard year for me in RL, but also a very exciting and fulfilling year for me personally, in so many ways, but please, no worries, everything is alright with me, and things are looking brighter, and definitely going the way I want it to.
I can't wait to start the new year and I hope that I will find back to the inspiration of doing SL pictures as well as be more active on Flickr and hopefully I will be sharing more SL pictures in the new year.
I will most probably reopen all of my Flickr groups in the beginning of January 2025 as well, I am looking forward to that.
Thank you so much to each and every one of you for all your positive feedback on my work trough out the years and this past year as well. I am grateful.
Merry Christmas, and I wish you all a very happy New Year.
May 2025 be a wonderful year.
💖Especially with everything going on in the world these days, please take good care of your self as well as one another, we know nothing about what others are going trough, so therefor always be kind as well as thoughtful towards others. 💖
💖 Huge, huge hugs, light, peace and love to you all 💖.
Best regards
Lori 💖
Window reflection of a photography image of Erich Lessing. Photography was set at the show-window of the LessingImages.com Gallery, Weihburggasse 22
It was so overcast and foggy at sunrise that I almost drove right by this little beauty as she was nicely perched on a fencepost only 40 feet in from the road.
I was able to quietly park behind a large bush and slowly walk back along the road and set up my tripod and shoot for 20 minutes before she flew off after something out in the field. She screeched several times in two directions and I assumed she was advertising that this was her exclusive territory. All other Snowies KEEP OUT!
We are so blessed to have these wonderful birds come back into our area year after year (less than 15 minutes from where I live).
To view the image at full size press F11 and L keys.
To return to normal press them again.
Unfortunately, it was mostly cloudy without a clear shot of the moon but the clouds and moonlight offered a unique sky for a Blue Moon-less mage

From the Cornell Lab:
"The Lesser Prairie-Chicken is a pale grouse of the southern Great Plains, found only in prairie and agricultural land with shinnery oak and sand sagebrush. Once widespread and abundant, its numbers have crashed following heavy hunting in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and then conversion of its natural habitat to cropland and rangeland. Like its close relative, the larger, darker Greater Prairie-Chicken, male Lesser Prairie-Chickens gather in spring on “leks,” sites where males compete for females by performing spectacular displays."
This shot was taken at Smoky Valley Ranch, a Nature Conservancy property in western Kansas. More than half of all lesser prairie chickens in the world are in western Kansas. The Nature Conservancy is playing a key role in preserving the species.
Third and final installment in my grouse series.
The American Goldfinch is the only member of the finch family that undergoes any plumage changes during the year. Their plumage becomes less colourful in fall and winter.
They prefer a habitat of open country where they can forage on the many weed seeds they consume with some brush and trees nearby for shelter and nesting. Other than the breeding season they are very social and will flock with numerous other species.
Being the very active and acrobatic little songbirds they are we often see them clinging to weed seed heads especially thistles. Because they are heavy seed eaters they nest later in the summer than other species supposedly so they have a plentiful supply of late summer seeds for their chicks. Their young mature very quickly leaving the nest in only 11 to 17 days after hatching.
For the art lovers amongst us...
This is a sculpture called "Butterfly" created by Henry Moore.

“The secret of life is to have a task, something you devote your entire life to, something you bring everything to, every minute of the day for the rest of your life. And the most important thing is, it must be something you cannot possibly do.”
- Quote by Henry Moore -
Poon Hill is a foothill of Annapurna Massif at 3,210m. It is a famous viewpoint of Himalayas located on the border between Kaski and Myagdi districts. It is a less-than-one-hour walk from Ghorepani that is part of Annapurna Circuit.
The tower is useful if you want to take photos of Himalayas with people on the hilltop (^_^;) Otherwise, ground level view is sufficiently spectacular.

We saw less than a dozen people this day up there.
Bet its been a tad different this week!!
Orvieto is one of the most striking, memorable, and enjoyable hill towns in central Italy. Less than 90 minutes from Rome, Orvieto sits majestically high above the valley floor atop a big chunk of tufo volcanic stone, overlooking cypress-dotted Umbrian plains. A visit here will reward you with a delightful, perfectly preserved, and virtually traffic-free world highlighted by a colorful-inside-and-out cathedral and some of Italy's best wine.
Orvieto has two distinct parts: the old-town hilltop and the dull new town below. All travelers start at the bottom, where train passengers disembark and drivers can leave their cars for free. Visitors can then drive or take an elevator or escalator to the medieval upper town. But the preferred mode is joining the locals to climb the town's natural fortress hill on the slick funicular, which deposits riders about a 10 minute walk from the heart of town.

flowers, from the garden, a bit rain-sun- and wind-damaged, doesn't make it less appealing to me because it's not 'perfect'!
Another type of beauty... A personal favourite.
From my garden, a fragrant red Rose, white Hebe, Yellow St John's wort (Hypericum), and some blue campanula flowers... again ala Victoriana...
Have a lovely day and thanks for your comments, M, (*_*)

Experimenting! Trying to do more subtle colorwork here, and less contrast. Also if anyone was wondering, the clouds are from Glacier National Park from my trip in August :)
Not totally sure if I'm content with this yet but I kind of just wanted to get something posted so I might replace it later.
I just got a modelmayhem account because I kind of want to start working with models nearby, especially if I'm getting a portfolio together. Add me if you have one! I like making new friends on social networking bahaha

My friends and I found Cajon to be a somewhat frustrating place. After getting the “easy” locations, we started to set up at the less-accessible spots. In this case, we were ready for trains on Santa Fe’s south track, and everything ran on the north track in both directions, and a few SP trains passed as well. Here an eastbound auto train climbs the grade with five GP35’s and a GP30 for power.
I'm back from a trip round the island of Spitsbergen in the Svalbard Archipelago so I'll be uploading pictures from there for a while. These Polar Bears were photographed in the pack ice north of Spitsbergen which is where most Arctic seals breed and the natural habitat of Polar Bears. When we arrived one male bear was feeding on what appeared to be a dead Walrus. It had no skin but was huge, much longer than the Polar Bears. Two more bears arrived and muscled in on the food. They growled loudly at each other but there was no real aggression and all three bears enjoyed a feed. Walrus prey is unusual as Polar Bears cannot tackle an adult Walrus so I wondered if they found a dead one. These bears are both males but the third bear was a female. Incidentally this was above 80 ° North, so if you imagine the world as a clock face with the North Pole at midnight, we were less than two minutes to midnight.
We're Here with Smoke / Humo on the anniversary of the fire that destroyed Vancouver in 1886. On June 13 1886, a furious fire destroyed Vancouver in less than one hour. It ignited after flames from a brush-clearing fire blew onto dry brush just west of the city. About 1,000 wooden buildings—virtually the entire city—were totally destroyed. The next day, citizens began rebuilding the city, one piece at a time.
