Merry Christmas from the Candy Cane painted railroad!
Jackson & Lansing Railroad Job JL1 head south towards Jackson, Michigan to interchange with Norfolk Southern.
With mostly cloudy skies for weather conditions, the sun decided to make a peak appearance just before the train crossed over Eden Road just before Leslie.
Leslie Gulch is a canyon in Malheur County, Oregon, United States. It is on the east side of Owyhee Lake, a reservoir on the Owyhee River. Its abundant and striking rock formations are made of tuff.
The gulch was named after a local rancher, Hiram E. Leslie, who was hit by lightning here in 1882. Previously it had been called "Dugout Gulch."
Last leg of our Southeast Oregon Tour of 2022.
Unfortunately, we battled with wildfire smoke everywhere we went in Oregon. Many photos were taken through closed and tinted car windows, which made for some very unclear and distorted colors. Still, it was a wonderful trip and we saw many landscapes and wildlife that we would have missed had we stayed away this year.

There is not a lot of places to use flashes between Mason and Jackson to shoot the Jail as the move between the two locations. Both Mason and Leslie offer something but Leslie offers 4-5 different angles to go after. Here 1760 and 1751 stroll back north to Mason with their train from the NS. What makes shooting the 9's a little hard is that locomotives wear the same paint and scheme but were painted years apart. 1751 was one of the first units painted for the A&B and has faded into an almost grey look with the yellow stripe, where 1760 is still pretty olive green but over the last couple years has started to fade as well.

Another shot of the farm that's next to my sons house. It's where his great-great- grandparents lived and it still remains in the family.
I love the ox blood faience on the London Underground stations designed by Leslie Green in the early 1900's. They still look great, even when they are filthy.
Not to mention the lamps.
I bought a background on Friday. Leslie got to be my first test. Can anyone make suggesstions, I want to place the lights so that they don't refelect in the eyes?
Minor Adjustments in Lightroom, cropped (rare for me)
