Keeping a watchful eye on the black leopard that shares the same enclosure.

This leopard is in the zoo in Madrid (Spain). The photo was taken in Summer 2013.

Khavan is one of two critically endangered amur leopards at the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston, Massachusetts.

I was pretty lucky at my most recent visit to the San Diego Zoo. This leopard was up and walking around and I even got a picture of the Fishing Cat (seen earlier in my stream).

Meshack spotted this leopard and he took this great picture. We had lunch right under the tree. Just us and the leopard... forgot what I ate but it was the best lunch I've ever had.

Waited and waited at the Russia's Grizzly Coast compound at the Minnesota Zoo for this Amur Leopard [Panthera pardus orientalis] to do something more that just pose on the log.

Suddenly I had this shot and I heard the woman next to me tell her companion, "I got it with it's mouth open!" I hoped I did too and realized I had a good shot when I reviewed the photo.

This leopard's companion was named "Paulina" (aka Nina, according to a zoo docent), but I didn't get the name of this leopard . . . a rather beautiful creature much like it's kin, the snow leopard.

As you can see, I hazed out the background and foreground log a bit to keep the focus on the leopard's face.

Snow Leopards are native to the mountain ranges of Central and South Asia, these beautiful big cats are listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

The Leopard Lacewing (Cethosia cyane) lives in India, Southern China and further south in Singapore.

 

It has a wingspan of 8cm (3 inches) and feeds on plants.
