The inspiration for 'The Sirens Gaze' initially started from my fascination with my Starbucks coffee cup logo, of all things, which is a highly esoteric symbol of a siren. This brought me into the world of Greek mythology & the subject of sirens & their predatory seductiveness. A siren it is said would seduce sailors with their songs & promises but then bring them to their demise. I did some little sketches with some mobile photos in mind & then began arranging my elements which took on a life of its own. The seduction in this case was through the sirens gaze that is further mystified by seeing partially through the eyes of a fish to make the queri more enigmatic.

Apps used; camera+ girl, some of coral & fish r.f. Googled images others mine, textures mine. Processed using facetune, iColorama, superimpose, procreate, pixelmator & lenslight apps on iPad Pro.

New discoveries; love Pixelmators lighten & darken tools.

"There is only one true thing: instantly paint what you see. When you've got it, you've got it. When you haven't, you begin again. All the rest is humbug."–Édouard Manet, born on this day in 1832./ Jan.23

The image today was taken this morning in the Warwickshire village of Leek Wootton. The view is looking down the lane from the side of the Parish Church. I liked the look of the roots showing from the tree next to the street lamp, with the winding lane in the background.

The photo was taken using the app ExposerGL on my iPhone 6.

First I used the app Snapseed to edit the picture. I cropped and Straightened the image and applied the Tonal Contrast preset. I then boosted the Structure and Sharpness a little. I also increased the Saturation, Ambiance and Warmth. After this I decreased the Highlights and Shadow area. I used the app LensLight to add the glow effect on and around the street light as well as applying the Warm filter to the image. Next I used the app Mextures to apply the Windansea formula by Justin Halbert. Finally I used PhotoToaster to add the Backlit preset, the Green Process FX and a Large dark vignette. I then applied Antiqued texture and the Charcoal frame.

This is a second take of an image I created in early 2012. I have considered redoing it for a few months now having a new set of apps to play with. Hope you enjoy it.

Camera+, 2 photos used for figure, 2 photos for trees & branches & a leaves photo. Processed using icolorama, procreate, Pixelmator, flowpaper & Lenslight.

This piece started out with some experiments I was doing in the mobile app icolorama with the brush tool. As I started getting this "Icey" look on the already manipulated figure I went with it. The figure itself was a compilation of two different mobile photos done in Procreate & iColorama. I then added the rest. The leaves, were altered in Procreate, birds from icolorama brush, Flowpaper for blue gauze effect, sparkles & some filtering from LensLight, the trees & limbs altered mostly in iColorama using the effects tool with blending.
