This week the theme was 'golden hour' for the Snap Happy challenge. It was chosen by phunnyfotos and the requirement was only to take an image in the golden hours of the day. This is my contribution to the challenge Lemon meringue on the dining table during the golden hour.
Over the weekend, I photographed several flowers in the garden. I studied my beautiful bouquet of big, bold and blousy Dahlias, perfectly proportioned Lupins, fragrant sweet peas and then found this tiny rose which looked so pale and insipid, almost ghostly white. There was something appealing about it so administered a little TLC via LR and discovered that dear little Casper was worthy of a post. I renamed it Lemon Meringue, as in the words of L'Oréal Paris, "it was worth it".

Although this is not 'scrumptuous SUMMER FOOD" as such it is winter here and this is scrumptuous any time of the year
For the April 26, 2021 Macro Mondays theme: forks. This one's in a piece of lemon meringue pie.
Fork tines are approx. 1" across.
I do have an alternate if this is rejected, but this felt more like a macro than my other photo.
Thank you all for your favorites, comments, and group invites!

My bears Paddy and Scout have made very good friends with two bears in Holland called Peter and Oleg (www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/galleries/721577154558...) and their Mummy (www.flickr.com/photos/66094586@N06/) . Peter and Scout are very similar and have become best friends. Peter loves Rosie and Rosie loves Peter, so they have become prince and princess to one another. Paddy and Oleg are very similar too and have become best friends as well. Jago has become best friends with Benny, another of Mummy Marian's bears (www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/galleries/721577200585...) and Bogart has befriended another of Mummy Marian's bear family, Fuzzy (www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/galleries/721577204013...). Bogart has also befriended Danbo (www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/galleries/721577206753...), I’m not quite sure what Danbo is, but Bogart seems to know. Today is Mummy Marian's birthday!
Happy Birthday (gelukkige verjaardag) dear Marian! We hope that it is wonderful day full of love! With lost and lots of big little bear hugs and snuffly kisses (berenkusjes en knuffels) from all of us!
This beautiful Willow Pattern nursery tea set was made in England by the Shell China Company in the 1920s. It features four cups and saucers as well as a tea pot, coffee pot, milk jug and sugar bowl. Each piece is gilt edged and decorated with the Willow Pattern in blue, just like the life-size equivalent. It has two sister sets: a 1920s Shell China Company nursery rhyme tea set that I was given as a gift some years ago by a close friend who knows I collect nursery ware and children’s tea sets and a faerie tale set from the 1930s Shell China Company faerie tale tea set that I have built up from various sellers over time.
My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago). He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes. The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt. He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.
He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years. He is a very precious member of my small family.
Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.
Rosie is Scout's cousin, because like Scout, she is a free trade knitted bear from Africa. She was made in Kenya by one of the Kenana Knitters, Martha Wanjira. She is made from home spun and dyed wool. She was a gift to me from two very dear friends, includng the one who gave Scout to Paddy.
Bogart has travelled all the way from Georgia, via Alabama as a gift to me from a friend. He has lovely Southern manners and seems to be a fun and gentle soul with an inquisitive nature.
Jago was a gift from a dear friend in England. He is made of English mohair with suede paw pads and glass eyes. He is a gentle bear, kind and patient who carries an air of calm about him. He is already fitting in with everyone else very nicely.
Daisy Maud is Jago's little sister and was made by the same friend in England who made him. She is made of German mohair with floral fabric cotton paw pads that match her pretty sunhat, and glass eyes. A sweet and loving little girl bear, she is happy to be reunited with her big brother, Jago, and enjoys being spoiled by her new Daddy.
Just me holding a single piece of my husband's birthday pie from yesterday! Yes....he is a Valentine's Day baby!
This week is all about the background. The background in this tells the story of who baked the lemon meringue pie this morning and the kitchen it was baked in...but it also hides a lot of selfie flaws! Clever or cheating...either way, it's done and it's a selfie!
The color of this great looking 1957 Ford F100 pickup reminded me of Lemon Meringue pie. This was one sweet ride that took part in the 2019 Centerfire Shooting Sports Car Show held in Olathe Kansas.
...and the customary glass of milk. I wasn't sure which image I liked the best of all the ones I took so after whittling it down to these two I eventually gave up on trying to chose only one and decided to post both.

This was cropped not just for artistic purposes. There was a customer with a backpack laid across a table on the left. I tried to clone it but not very well I am afraid. Good quality at close distance. Nice to be able to support the lens with the table though I am not having any difficulty with the weight of the lens. I plan on using a tripod much of the time with the lens anyway and did so in several of the other shots.
... and I did ~ this lovely lemon meringue cake was just a little too much for me, so I shared it with my wife 😉

My favorite dolls growing up were my Strawberry Shortcakes. Blueberry Muffin was and still is my favorite character. I just realized that is when my love for dolls with over sized heads began. It's in my genes! lol! Here's my very small Strawberry Shortcake collection. As of now. ;)

This collage was made entirely from magazine strips with a technique I call "painting with paper." I cut the paper into different shapes and layer them in such a way that they look almost like the brushstrokes in a painting.
If you have any questions about this piece, feel free to send me a message or leave a comment.
Good morning. Just a couple of simple postings today of a lemon meringue pie we had for dessert on Thanksgiving instead of the traditional squash or pumpkin pie. And no, yours truly didn't make it. It was purchased at a local bakery and was very good. Excellent actually.
Take care...and I hope everyone has a great Monday and week.

Travelling all the way from London, Cousin Paddington was caught in transit thanks to the Coronavirus pandemic, so it looks like he is stopping with us for a long while. That makes me happy, as the more I look into his happy, smiling face, the more attached I am becoming to him.

Freddy Fox is made by Merrythought in England. I bought him, of all places, from a men’s accessory shop in Melbourne’s Block Arcade, called Mr. Wares. Freddy Fox is made of English Mohair with felt paws and glass bead eyes. He has so much charm and charisma that already he is winning hearts with anyone whom he meets, and he is kind and sweet, which makes him an ideal member of our family.
Duckie I saw when I was at a Sunday market on a stall of homemade knitted and crocheted items. She caught my eye straight away with her happy, smiley face and bright colours. I think she finds life with my bears intriguing and perhaps a little confusing, however she is learning.
