As Jono comes back from a walk with Korben, he smells the newly baked cake and plants himself on the stool... fixated on the cake on the kitchen table.
"Noco is the lemon cake finished yet?"
"No!" I answered...
"Just wait a bit, it's for tea."
"What time is tea?" Jono giggled.
"Wuff!" barked Korben.
"ok, ok, I'll be down there in a sec... i'll cut you a slice when the coffee is ready!"

Originally created to feed 100 poor men a meal at the gates of
The Hospital of St Cross and Almshouse of Noble Poverty, the Hall now houses a tea-room.
Somehow, on a little photo shoot to the almshouses this morning, my new 'eating plan' deserted me.

"Malachi, was isst denn du? " fragt Bretel.
"Ist das nicht offensichtlich? Es ist Tea-Time und ich nehme eine exzellente Tasse mit Tee und einen hervorragenden Zitronenkuchen."
Nach der köstlichen Mahlzeit bereitet die nette Frau den Kindern und Malachi ein gemütliches Bett und die drei schlafen zufrieden ein.

"Malachi, what are you having to eat? " Bretel asks.
"Isn't it obvious? It's tea-time for me and I'll have an excellent cup of tea and a superb lemon cake."
After the delicious meal, the kind woman prepares a cosy bed for the children and Malachi and the three fall asleep contentedly.

It was my birthday a few days back. But due to Covic- 19 pandemic, My family is staying home! Since we couldn't go out & celebrate, so I made a cake with simple decoration!
I baked Lemon moist cake a day before. The next morning, on my birthday, I made American buttercream & lemon curd. I mixed a few of these curd with the buttercream for the tangy flavor & the rest for toppings.

So here it is, the finished birdcage cake, I've been wanting to do one of these for ages!
I have to say I fell in love with this!, based (heavily) on the cake featured in the 'how to' part of the magazine 'wedding cakes a design source'*
The cake in the magazine had less flowers and of course just the one bird! (but I always like to keep on adding just a little more!), I thought 2 birds was more apt for a wedding cake. (The birds are made from fondant with added cmc, though the magazine suggested making them from royal icing, I tried and failed at that!).
With the glorious weather we're having I couldn't resist taking the pictures in the garden.
Lemon cake with rich lemon curd and elderflower buttercream filling. (8inch round [though magazine suggested 6inch], it stood about 9 inches tall)
(the cake stand is from BHS, plastic! - comes with a lovely dome top, perfect for posh picnics - found in the BBQ section! £12)

Shot using the Helios 44-2 lens.
The previous shot is a collage and explanation of the lens I'm using here - and the joke in the title here ;o)
This is one of the first shots I've taken using this lens. I love it already, though I've only had it a couple of days!
The simple pleasure is twofold - a slice of lemon cake - and finding a 'new' lens in the back of a cupboard. It's an old lens, from before digital cameras - but it such a pleasure to discover that I can use it, and that it takes great photos too ;o)

LEMON BUNDT CAKE
bakeorbreak.com/2020/04/lemon-bundt-cake/
Will eventually post my version of Lemon Bundt Cake to my blog, Baking is my Zen.
Lemon Cake
"Excellent and extremely moist."
Ingredients:
1 (18.25 ounce) package lemon cake mix
1 (3.5 ounce) package instant lemon pudding mix
1 cup beer (I used Shock Top Belgin White)
1/4 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C), grease and flour a 10 inch Bundt pan.
2. Combine cake mix and pudding mix in a large bowl. Add beer and vegetable oil and mix lightly. Add 4 eggs. Beat at high speed until mixture is thick, creamy and smooth. Pour into greased and floured Bundt pan.
3. Bake at 350 degrees about 30 minutes. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely. Frost as desired or simply dust with powered sugar.
I have in mind to try a few other combinations such as:
chocolate cake with chocolate pudding and Sierra Nevada Stout
orange cake with vanilla pudding and Blue Moon
yellow cake with cheesecake pudding and Strawberry Bacardi
devils food cake with choclate cherry pudding and Sam Adams Cherry Wheat
spice cake with butterscotch pudding and Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale
and a Gerber Daisy

recipe by Waldorf Astoria, NY Thank you so much for the Explore! April 3, 2011 #128
I've been experimenting with Paleo Baking Flour and tried this recipe today. I loved how light it was. I tried one piece and froze the rest. I'm a real fan of Lemon anything!
Friday tastes like light atmospheres,
It tastes like good moments among people we love and care,
It tastes like refreshment and sweetness...
Wish you all relax and enjoy the weekend ahead the best way possible!
