This little set was a joy to build! I’m not a big Jurassic World fan, still this set really appealed to me. From a Castle/Fantasy builders perspective, I still think this set is great value for it’s price. Many arches, plates and masonry profile bricks, which you can never get enough of! 😂 If you are looking for a small set, this is definitely recommended! 👍

This little set was a joy to build! I’m not a big Jurassic World fan, still this set really appealed to me. From a Castle/Fantasy builders perspective, I still think this set is great value for it’s price. Many arches, plates and masonry profile bricks, which you can never get enough of! 😂 If you are looking for a small set, this is definitely recommended! 👍
I was pleasantly surprised to find this set still in large quantity on shelves at both target and the Lego store today, so I thought I'd take a stab at reviewing it. Since this is a City set and obviously intended for children, I will be actually making two reviews.
As a set for young children:
This helicopter is a must-have for any young Lego Police fan! Don't waste money on the newer, larger helicopter. This version looks far than the pictures I have seen of the other. For one thing, most if not all police forces have a small helicopter like this, not a big bulky one with cargo space.
The build is fun but not too difficult. Unfortunately, there are 8 stickers to be applied (not counting the German "Polizei" alternates) that 5-7 year-olds may need help with. However, these look FANTASTIC when applied. Playability is minimal, but fairly typical for a set of this size. The propellors spin, the roof lifts to place the minifig (who is nothing special) inside, and there are side hatches that store handcuffs and binoculars. But it's easily affordable and fun to swoosh around, so for this age group I give 7741 a 9/10!
As a set for AFOLs and TFOLs:
As a set for a City diorama, the helicopter looks fantastic as-is. It has lots of nice details including a spotlight, camera, and navigation lights. The set is sturdy and the design great. While I dislike the widespread use of stickers, they work well here. My ONLY gripe is that the main rotor is too narrow near the center.
Parts-wise, this set is decent. Mine included the new tail rotor previously found by peterlmorris here. I agree that it is a vast improvement. The set also included two pieces that were new to me (but not overall): a very nice control panel and these premolded landing skis. The skis I had thought were two halves. This method is strudier, but prevents usage is wider helicopters or snow vehicles. Lastly, this set also includes several nice large sloped pieces for space and aircraft builders. I thus give 7741 an 8/10 overall for adult builders.
