What. A. Chore. I couldn’t begin to tell you why proportioning this engine has been such a bane, but between the boiler, the tanks, the cab, the bunker, the wheels…. No combination of sizes or shapes I tried worked. This result here… is the least offensive of my attempts and the last of my patience. At quick glance I think it at least communicates (auto tank). But I want to focus on a new build and need to move on. So here’s my first overhaul of the new year rail ready.

Trying to do less ‘secular’ builds when it comes to a MOC, and pieces out a structure or body as a whole to make it more sturdy.

Tanks lowered, splashers added, running board extended, cab detailed, trimline added. I’m fine with calling this done :)

I’m sloooooowly learning that it’s all about accenting details. You can have great trains, but a weak layout doesn’t show them off well. Grateful for everyone being so open to my questions and neediness for advice lol

Recently restructured the Autocoach body and lined the 1400. So might as well slap ‘em together

A cobbled mix of a few different references I found. Not a lot of experience building vehicles, but this was a fun one.

I’ve agonized over this stupid engine. And I wouldn’t be as intent on accuracy if the original MOC hadn’t been my oldest build.

I’ve attempted as much detail as I can without compromising structure or coming across too garish. This compromise meant abandoning loose coal to hide the techniques and shifting the ’tanks’ all over the body to accommodate wiring and an attempt at representing internal running gear.

The sanding gear, bunker steps, cab detail, and brakes were all labors of love to incorporate and I finally feel rest in my soul that this 1400 can no longer be called an inaccurate Jinty or green Thomas. Pieces have ALL arrived finally from blubrix and bricklink so I can now start on my ‘big’ new project. Happy to shelve this tank.

I’ve had a bunch of pumpkins I had no idea what to do with, and then I saw @leewanlego and @loysnuva had built pumpkin rovers and I thought that was brilliant! So thank you for your inspirational builds!

Please check them out they very inspirational builders!

If I’m going to keep rebuilding this thing, I may as well try to do some things differently. I’m hyper fixated on chassis detail and boiler proportions. Trying to use different snot techniques to create ‘lip’ for the smoke box and fire box to show the separated sections. I’ve also tried to utilize some different techniques in the cab to accommodate opening firebox doors and allow movement in the levers and valves.

Idk if I’ll ever be happy with this MOC, but until another engine captures my desire like this auto tank or the terrier before it, I’m just going to keep fiddling I guess lol

Still needs some proportion changes, but ultimately I think its turned Out alright for a spare part build

Added a couple new bits and rearranged some things. Nearly done once some bricklink orders arrive

Alright, this time is Police 🚓

This vehicle is basically inspired from the recent Proton SUV with the Polis Malaysia scheme. Honestly, I haven’t finish the interior yet, but it can fit up to 3 Minifigures. Doors and bonet can open. It scaled following with the latest LEGO Speed Champions. Now is just to order the parts, 😏.

Complete over haul of my Pannier design in order to incorporate large drive wheels. Speaking objectively I think I need to just commit to ML wheels for these GWR tanks. And with this one I think it’d do proportions good to move the back axle back one stud and get some off center rods as well.

But I like the shape! I think the body is the closest I’ve gotten to that iconic pannier aesthetic, and after choosing to put traction bands on only the front left and back right flanged drivers, it now has a wonderful little waddle.

Going to keep at it. I want to do this one right.

Rebuilding some old rolling stock to work with my new GWR centric builds. Just need some decals!

Idk. Genuinely just tinkering because I love this engine and hate that I can’t figure out the right way to compensate detail and adjust sections for scale. This is the closest I feel I’ve gotten and I need to call it quits for a while and move onto something else.
