A squad for the #legofantasyquest started by @brick_knight_ on Instagram.

A perfect occasion to (at last) formally introduce a few characters of my storyline!

From left to right...

Gram: one of the guards of Embervale Castle. A tactical genius by goblin standards, she even seems to have understood what the word "mission" means. Still struggles with concepts such as "observation" or "reporting", but her captain is confident he'll eventually make a sergeant out of her.

Dresghar: the Cultural Attaché of Embervale. A seasoned diplomat, fine literary man and virtuoso lute player. Also a master of stealth, deadly efficient with throwing knives and all kinds of daggers.

Alrune: the Governor of Embervale, by appointment of the Elven Empire. A skilled spellcaster with a degree in necromancy and a deplorable sense of humour.

The Shadowguard: ever heard a story about a creepy kid who has an imaginary friend, and the so-called imaginary friends ends up being a ghost? Well, Alrune was such a kid and had such a friend. And now that friend is all grown up!

Evrart: the Captain of the Guards. A human soldier who pledged allegiance to Embervale because he had nowhere else to go - or so he said. Most of the time able to make the goblin guards follow his orders. Proficient with all kinds of weapons, but has a sweet spot for crossbows.

In a realm forgotten by time, where silence is the only law, sits the Faceless Reaper. He is the guardian of the final crossroad, a patient judge enthroned amidst cold ruins. His spectral sentinels, frozen in stone, watch over the path no living soul dares to tread. At his side, his loyal steed, the Grave-wing, waits with him. Its skeletal frame is a stark promise of the inevitable journey for any who wander into this desolate land. The borders of this realm appear on no map.

This is my entry for the « Where No One Dares Go » category of the Summer Joust contest. I wanted to bring back my character—the « Faceless Reaper »—created last fall for #legofantasyquest.

It’s my very first MOC that includes lighting, and I also wanted to add some smoke (mist maker and incense) to create the desired atmosphere!

A big thank you to @les_briqueurs for their valuable advice, and to @syrdarian_ for a few tweaks to the original photo (removing reflections, enhancing the eye glow) before I did my own image processing.

Jin was born in the suburbs of a great city before the Purge of Elox. From a young age, he saw that the suburbs were places where one could only serve corporations or clans. Although his life was not bad, he left the city. He bought an old saurus-drawn carriage at the gates of Elox and became a wayfarer who travels through the world. He learned how life is rough outside of the high city quite quickly.

Oltan is the son of the sands of the old time. He is a self-proclaimed righteous man. Although he was born outside the high cities, he was often hired by officers from cities to hunt down criminals who ran away. He learned very quickly that justice is not always what it seems to be.

Oltan met Jin when he needed a ride. They were headed in the same direction. Oltan has been traveling wih Jin since then. Jin sometimes helps Oltan with bounty hunting, and Oltan helps Jin when he needs to deliver something to someone.

Flee from Elox.

My fourth and fifth entry to instagram #legofantasyquest May

Kiki and Raik are from Elox, once the brightest of all high cities.

Kiki was born in the Dust clan and trained as a high guardian of the main family. Her sole purpose in life was to protect the clan.

Raik was born in the Great Leaf clan, an orthodox clan. He was trained in neo bushido.

Both clans were part of the Five Great Clans, which opposed HighCorps in Elox.

When the Hierarchs, the leaders of HighCorps, initiated the Purge, a campaign to eradicate any organization which could disrupt HighCorps hegemony, a civil war erupted in Elox. During purge Kiki and Raik were part of the Suicide Squads, whose mission was to kill as many Hierarchs as possible. They succeeded in killing two of them. Even though it showed Hierarchs that they are not untouchable, the cost was too high. Kiki and Raik are the only survivors of Suicide Squads.

As a consequence of their actions, Kiki and Raik were placed on the Cyberwaste list, which means that they will never be able to return to Elox, because it would mean a death sentence. Fortunately the clans in other high cities took countermeasures to ensure the status quo in their cities. Kiki and Raik had no choice but to flee to the sands of the old time.

Elox survived, but its brightness is gone. The survivors who had to flee are now branded as traitors and are relentlessly hunted.
