Sound: are we too late - Tom Leeb (acoustic version)
we never seen a day, no. never held a hand, no
or found a way to feel the same
I've never flown for hours to make one city ours
and checked the weather where you were
I may never leave you now
'cause I have finally seen you now
I may never leave you now
'cause I've been waiting on your eyes to set in mine
I go ahead and fly away
I'll travel with my thoughts and get to you somehow
go ahead and fly again
'cause everything I see you already are to me
already are to me...
the world is raging out there
the wars are going nowhere, and I'll just want to heal you there
it might seem insane, out of nowhere
somehow I check the weather again
I may never leave you now
'cause I have finally seen you now
I may never leave you now
'cause I've been waiting on your eyes to set in mine
I go ahead and fly away
I'll travel with my thoughts and get to you somehow
I go ahead and fly again
'cause everything I see you already are to me
already are...
I move from a corner to stand on the water
but my, are we too late?
are we too late? ...
Slow burns, fire inside my bones
As your head turns half of the world’s alone
If I’m on silent then I’m already blown
I’m blinded by the crystal light of yours

Inside the Gallapfels (also Folii Galle or Blattgalle called) is a larva, from which in the autumn then the always female insect hatches, which puts ever a unbefruchtetes egg into the vegetation cone of the oak bud. This wintered there and forms starting from spring bud-close-budding close all (Taschenbergii Gallen) out of those then in June both for males and females of the calibration close all wasp slips. The fertilized females placing then again eggs with the help of the putting prick into a vein of the oak sheet. From a defence reaction of the oak the diseased rampant growth around the putting place, which is called due to the sphericalness Gallapfel, results.

Diesen kleinen Kerl hab ich mit seinen Artgenossen im Kensington Park fotografiert. Keine Ahnung wie der kleine Exot nach London gekommen ist, aber er war eines meiner besten Fotomodelle vor Ort. :-)

German Diary.
Unknown date: 1941.
The clank of machinery through snow is the only sound upon my ears, that and Field Marshal Von Leeb screaming about something not being done right. I must say, I'm glad I'm not the poor neuer Neuzugang being bawled at.

Due to strong opposition from the Soveit forces we've had to withdraw to the edge of lake Lagoda, and try to besiege Linengrad after we've reached the Finnish Army.
Finnish Diary.
Unknown Date: 1941.
The cold is hellish, men are dying every day due to the Soviet army putting up a larger resistance then we had first anticipated.
Marshall Mannerheim is determined to push forward to the Svir River to meet the German forces and blockade the city.
Due to having a point and shoot camera, this didn't come out as good as I'd have hoped but it's sufficient enough.

Not a daily sight, in my street, right now.
The young leebs on the trees are illuminated by the setting sunlight, from an angle, you not always see. The dark clouds creating shadows all around, while the sun is reflected on the little leebs, giving it a magical appearance.

Went up to top of the mountain Mirnock - 2110m - on Wednesday morning with a friend. Got up at 4 am and after about an hour of hiking we arrived at around 6:15 at summit cross. We waited up there for about half an hour until the first rays of morning light brightened up the day.
Always very special to start a day this way and really worth getting up early! Was a brilliant and clear day without any clouds and we were also able to get a view on to the highest mountain in Austria, the Großglockner - 3.798m, from up there!

I'm stampolina and I love to take photos of stamps. Thanks for visiting this pages on flickr.
I'm neither a typical collector of stamps, nor a stamp dealer. I'm only a stamp photograph. I'm fascinated of the fine close-up structures which are hidden in this small stamp-pictures. Please don't ask of the worth of these stamps - the most ones have a worth of a few cents or still less.
By the way, I wanna say thank you to all flickr users who have sent me stamps! Great! Thank you! Someone sent me 3 or 5 stamps, another one sent me more than 20 stamps in a letter. It's everytime a great surprise for me and I'm everytime happy to get letters with stamps inside from you!
thx, stampolina
For the case you wanna send also stamps - it is possible. (...I'm pretty sure you'll see these stamps on this photostream on flickr :) thx!

100 years of the incorporation of Floridsdorf into Vienna
Today's Floridsdorf, Vienna's 21st District, with an area of 44.46m2, stands on land cultivated and developed by early man. The discovery there of stone axes suggests that it was inhabited as early as the Neolithic Age (ca. 4000 to 2000 BC). Celts settled here around 500 BC and the whole settlement area to the north of the Danube, known to the Romans as "Transdanubia", was fought over first by Germanic tribes and later by other invading peoples such as the Lombards, Avars and the Slavs. The settlement was initially called "On the Peak" (“Am Spitz”) and belonged to the seminary of Stift Klosterneuburg. In 1786, the prelate at that time, Floridus Leeb, gave 30 plots along the Schlosshofer road to settlers and it is from him that the area takes its present name "Floridsdorf". What began as a predominantly agricultural area rapidly grew and developed as a result of the Nordwestbahn railway, flourishing industries and the steam tramway, which opened in 1885. In 1894 its status was elevated to that of a town.
In 1904 Floridsdorf, Jedlesee, Großjedlersdorf, Donaufeld, Leopoldau, Kagran, Hirschstetten, Stadlau and Aspern were all incorporated into the City of Vienna, followed in 1910 by Strebersdorf. In 1938 Kagran, Stadlau, Hirschstetten, Aspern and Lobau were incorporated into the newly created 22nd district of Donaustadt. Under the redrawn boundaries of 1954, however, Stammersdorf was added to Floridsdorf.
Throughout the ages Floridsdorf's survival depended on the Danube as an important trading route. At the same time the raging torrent with its countless tributaries and branches wreaked havoc each year with severe flooding. It was not until 1870-1875 that measures were taken to regulate the Danube. Between 1972 and 1988 the high water defences were again reinforced so that Floridsdorf, like the other districts which border on the Danube, has since been protected from flooding.

A team of martian scientists scouts the foothills of a volcano in Iceland hunting for a particular type of soil that matches samples collected by NASA’s Perseverance rover on the Red Planet.
The majestic landscape has a rusty colour from the dark, dense rock ejected during volcanic eruptions. The volcanic terrain, cool temperatures and sparse vegetation make the area very similar to ancient Mars. These conditions helped Iceland become the first European stopover for a treasure hunt that is searching for Mars-like samples around the world.
The effort is part of the joint Mars Sample Return campaign. While the rover has been busy sampling Mars for nearly two years and has filled 20 sample tubes, teams on Earth are preparing the technology needed to open them and extract the precious soil once they arrive on Earth in the 2030s.
The geological adventure started when an international team, supported by two local experts from the Iceland Space Agency, arrived at Lambahraun, Iceland. The area is dotted with hills, sand dunes and boulders akin to the martian region the rover has been exploring – the Jezero Crater on Mars.
The long hours of daylight in the Arctic summer helped the scientists collect 450 kg of sand in an area strikingly similar to the recent rover’s exploration site on Mars. The martian-like samples were great matches to the Atmo Mountain and Crosswind Lake grainy samples collected on Mars in December 2022.
Most of the Icelandic samples are now at the University of Oslo in Norway, from where they will be shipped to different parts of the world for testing. The Mars Sample Receiving Project will take care of the first samples returned from the Red Planet.

(wikipedia)

Hello, hello :)
Together with Johannes Krtek, graphic designer and a friend of mine, I founded the publishing house «elle même» to work on (photo-)book projects that makes us (and hopefully other people) happy.
This book is the first of the series «même photo» and we hope that there are many more to come.
It was such a long way to go from making the selection of the photographs, the paper, the words … a few personal setbacks in between have slowed down the process, but now it is (almost) done.
We are still working on the website (elle-meme.at) but the book will be soon available online and in selected bookshops. I will keep you updated.
(If you want to get your copy asap, you can also drop me a line here or write to: ecrire@elle-meme.at)

«J’ai photographié ma familie, mes ami(e)s, le paysage autour.»
(‘I‘ve photographed my family, my friends and the surrounding landscape.’)
The book features 47 black-and-white photographs by Hugues Erre (*1950) taken in the 1970s to the 1990s mainly in the South of France, Paris and Berlin.
The title ‘Lieu commun’ refers to the simplicity of common life in shared places, the lived everyday, where we don’t expect anything extraordinary to happen .
Hugue Erre shows us such places in a radically sober and yet virtuous way; full of longing and with a certain feeling for the ephemeral; in a way that makes us want to be there ourselves.
In such a way that it makes us miss the moment that we actually never experienced.
