The bright colour of this old leatherwork shop has caught my eye before, and with the sun shining on it this day I thought I would snap a couple of photos. Not long after I saw an article in the local paper, the older gent who carries out the precise, delicate repair work is a WWII veteran, and served in the Polish regiment that included the famous Wojtek the bear (who has his own statue in Princes Street Gardens here in Edinburgh), and is finally stepping back to enjoy a well-earned retirement.

Here's to another new year, happy 2014 everyone! With a new year comes new challenges, targets and goals, and ideas, and with this in mind I have set myself the challenge of Project 52, just like others have done, taking at least 1 photo a week for a whole year, There's no physical way I can set myself a 365 but I feel like one a week is hopefully a lot more possible!

Now back to the photo itself, this was taken in Northampton at Pearce Leatherworks. This is a shot of the run down powerhouse which is due for renovation in the near future. I decided to choose this location as it is part of the new build area I have just moved into and is all Art Deco themed, so eventually this rather run down scary looking powerhouse will become a habitable space containing flats, however it will be refurbished as it is a listed building.

A special delivery of bookmarks to my favorite bookstore in the Methow Valley...The Trail's End Bookstore!

I'm only wearing two masks here, but today in We're Here!, we're sharing masks. And after I put on my Maxx Empire lashed vixen mask and my Avalon Leatherworks plague doctor mask, it felt silly not to wear my top hat from the Blonde Swan. Then, I added my velvet jacket because the Jaws T-shirt I had on seemed out of place.

So these last few weeks have been a bit of a creative struggle as I have been insanely busy with other things, however I have always tried to think about what I could do for the next P51 photograph.

This week I decided to use my own home and area and capture the current skyline. What is quite nice is that my house overlooks a lot of the other homes in the area, giving me a more interesting view.

Thanks for viewing. All feedback, views, comments and favourites are appreciated!

The bulk of the contemporary leatherwork is aimed solely at tourists. The most "authentic" of these items are BABOUCHES: pointed slippers that are still the most common footwear among Moroccans of both sexes. Men wear yellow or white ones, while the more vibrant colours and decorative styles are reserved for women.

I arise this morning and look out upon gray skies and snow covered ground after yesterday's blast from the past -- winter's past anyway. It will melt very quickly, perhaps by later today, and the march of spring will resume. I took this photo early one sunny, summer morn from the bridge which crosses the Mississippi in Carleton Place. When we arrived in town eight years past, this pub restaurant was known as the Leather Works, so I presume that's what the original function was. Whatever name it goes by, we have not been impressed with either the food or service in our two visits -- unfortunately. BTW, Morphy's Falls was the original name of Carleton Place.
