When my Great Grandmother was a young debutante attending balls, and my Grandmother after her, it was social etiquette for women and men alike to wear white evening gloves when dancing, often taking several pairs to an occasion to exchange for a fresh pair across the course of an evening. People wore white gloves for dancing to adhere to a strict historical etiquette. Preventing sweaty hands from soiling delicate gowns, demonstrate social status and respectability, and as a practical accessory for the formal dress code of balls and evening events from the late Nineteenth and early Twentieth Centuries.
The theme for "Smile on Saturday" the 27th of September is "begins with G", a theme where it is required to take a photo where something beginning with the letter G should be the main subject of the picture. In this case, I have managed to capture a few items that begin with the letter G, all of which belonged to my Great Grandmother. First and foremost, we have a selection of her white kid evening gloves (the first G) which she wore for dancing. Secondly, they are displayed lying in her late Victorian glove box (second G) which is made of tooled and gilt leather, lined with velvet. Lastly, still attached within the inside of the lid are her sterling silver glove stretchers (final G) which were used to stretch the fingers of gloves in order to make it easier for you to fit your fingers into your gloves. I think that makes this photo perfect for the theme! I do hope you like my choice for the theme and that it makes you smile!

Good Morning everyone and Happy New Year's 2020, A new year a new decade and all is fresh and recovering from too much champagne last night lol, no not really, I had no RL date and Christmas always takes the energy out of me, I am one to stay at home in my warm jammies and watch the ball drop in Times Square. Now in SL it is a different matter, I had a lovely date who took me to Foxxies Jazz club for dancing and great music and then off to a private party of dozens of people. The energy was amazing and everyone looked lovely, I am thankful it was my friends who were hosting the party else I probably would not have attended, I am uneasy around a lot of people I do not know and become very shy and quiet, but luckily, my girlfriends there introduced me to people and I had a wonderful time. I soon went to bed after the ball dropped, however I wanted to take a photo of the outfit I wore, a beautifully designed black silk gown from Plastic and my long leather gloves and pearls.
It was a night to remember and meeting new people that make you laugh and have interesting conversation made me fall asleep with a smile on my face.
Have an amazing day today everyone and now I need a large mug of coffee to wake up. lol

Ok, I am going to go out on a bit of a limb here and say that this is a Fiorano T48 Corsa Spyder. It is a kit car with the body based off a Ferrari 1940's race car and plunked onto the chassis of a Triumph Spitfire. This fellow here (who I didn't actually meet as this was just parked in the parking lot of the Fountain Gardens in Paisley) seemed to have added a bunch of flourishes (name plates, stickers, leather side bag etc) which, to my eyes anyway, really adds to the 'retro-ness'. Oh, and the gloves are a nice touch!
