A great moment of life is seeing wild animals in their own natural habitat. Cannot beat it, and very addictive.
Just back from 'Tour de Bear' in the Canadian Rockies, Western Canada. Very tired, but some absolutely beautiful wildlife moments and worth every minute we put in. And there were a lot of minutes too, with us spending hour after hour, and day after day looking for wildlife.
Also, met a number of great photographers around our trip. All out in the golden hours searching for these charismatic animals.

Chip Oakenbrow decides it is time to teach the younger boys of his Lenfel village the art of hunting. As luck would have it, Chip and his young companions happen upon a black bear just exiting its cave. This is the perfect opportunity for Chip to show his apprentices how hunting is done in Lenfald.
Well, this is my first CCCXI entry. I built this small dio for the "A Child's Life" category. I experimented with a new technique for the trunk of a tree. Anyways, have a great day! :)
This is todays attempt at capturing the RHTT. The morning had been quite pleasant with periods of sun however by the time this was taken torrential rain had set in. Within 45 minutes the sun was back out for a chunk of the afternoon - just the way things work out!!
I should have used manual focus for this as juggling an umbrella and trying to keep the rain out of the camera proved too big a challenge and the rain seems sharper than the train. Overall it sums up the scene quite well.

And I... am feeling so small
It was over my head
I know nothing at all
And I... will stumble and fall
I'm still learning to love
Just starting to crawl

Self explanatory. I love the way my daughter's eyes betray no fear of the huge B-double road train truck coming by in the other lane. Looks like the car needs a vacuum to suck up the dust visible in the sun....

We can’t always physically travel, but we can mentally visit any place & time through #learning ... My mom unfortunately can’t travel but she loves travel programs & enjoys just as much as if she was actually there.

I want to fly with my own wings to a faraway place
Do you remember my Pullip Kaela: Kaede? <3 lately I don't bond very well with her... for this reason I even put her up for adoption.... but in the end I decided to keep her and make a look change because after all she's a beautiful and special pullip for me ^__^ so here is the new Kaede! I hope you like her so much as me <33

Leonard: Why are you learning Chinese?
Sheldon: I believe the Szechuan Palace has been passing off orange chicken as tangerine chicken, and I intend to confront them.
Leonard: If I were you, I'd be more concerned about what they're passing off as chicken.

Like a baby bird taking it's first flight... this is how I feel about SP's (it's terrifying). But thanks to the encouragement and inspiration from you guys, I keep trying. And I won't delete this one (I just have to keep telling myself that). :-)

“When you have come to the edge of all the light you have
And step into the darkness of the unknown
Believe that one of the two will happen to you
Either you'll find something solid to stand on
Or you'll be taught how to fly!”
~Richard Bach
Thank you for the lovely comments on my previous post. My Mom was thrilled by all the sweet birthday wishes.

This shot really defined the moment when I realised that I needed to move on to the d7000 I have now. This otter was feeding close to shore and when I saw her heading in I had moments to get down behind some rocks and ready to shoot.
The light wasn't great and I was going to struggle at lower iso's - problem was on the camera I was using that adjustment was menu driven and I daren't look away or move too much so I had to shoot as things were.
If, and it's a pointless if, I'd had the d7000 a quick role of the wheel and the iso would have been on the up instantly.
If this had been sharp I reckon it would have been my favourite otter image - looks like something out of a cartoon. Don't get me wrong, still a great moment and magical experience and I'm grateful for that.
....oh and I think the latest lesson I've learned is that I need to spend far too much money, for me anyway, on a new lens!

"Well I started out down a dirty road,
Started out all alone.
And the sun went down as I crossed the hill,
And the town lit up, the world got still.
I'm learning to fly... but I ain't got wings,
Coming down is the hardest thing.
I'm learning to fly, around the clouds.
But what goes up must come down."

Strictly, this photo is not mine; It was actually taken by my 7-year-old son David, who is learning to catch the light with a camera. And I think that he does this good enough ...

The new Learning Hub Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.
The new Learning Hub which also known as "dim sum basket building" stems from a simple idea that people learn best from one another. Each of the new 56 new-generation, "smart" classrooms will be equipped with flexible clustered seating, electronic white boards, multiple LCD screens and wireless communication tools, bringing students together in a university environment, they can collaborate to develop their thoughts further and faster than would be possible alone.
