There is a road that ran through Jasper known as the Cherokee Trading Path. On October 25, 1805 the federal government negotiated the right to build a highway from "...some convenient place near the head of Stone's river, and fall into the Georgia road at a suitable place towards the southern frontier of the Cherokees." This road, known as the Federal Road, first brought travellers past the site of Jasper. Travelling from Harnage's (a tavern on the site of the Tate House) to the mission at Talking Rock it wasn't until 1830 that an inn was built along the road just north of present-day Jasper. Today the Nelson-Simmons-Tripp House sits on the site of the Pickens County Jail.

One of the infamous Cherokee Forts would be built adjacent to the original site of the home. In between that time two major events occurred: North Georgia was given to settlers during two lotteries, the Sixth Land Lottery and the Gold Lottery in 1832 and Henry Fitzsimmons noticed a marble outcropping near the Federal Highway in 1835.

The city of Jasper became county seat for Pickens County in 1857. It is named for a hero of the American Revolution, William Jasper, who was killed during the battle of Savannah.

Creation of The Creator.

It is very true that this vital sensory organ is a master creation of God or Nature, whoever you want to give credit to but man has extensively used Eye for so many purposes; am sure that the creator never considered such versatile usage. I think Eye got a “Mean all" "can be used anywhere" kind of usage in linguistic jargons.

When a doe eyed beauty becomes the bull's eye then it is fair for a group of men to adapt an eye for an eye strategy; well, if you still refuse to understand their emotion, I will suggest you to go to the eye of their problem. I took a bird eye view of the happening and decided to turn a Nelson's eye because I am also eyeing that beauty. Well, as the blue eyed boy of my locality you cannot expect me to confess that she is the apple of my eyes too; if I do so then I will be the eye of the storm. Kindly keep it a secret.

Those viewers and readers who are trying to show me a red eye; I would like to inform that this is not exhaustive and if you keep an eye on this page; you will find story about Monsoon Lover which will act as an eye opener.

*** Visitors, kindly leave at least one example of such usage of “Eye”  in your language.

Our seven-year-old niece, who was assigned a project by her Brownie Troop, sent us this paper doll, dubbed, Flat Jessica, by mail. The idea of the project was based upon the original idea from another traveling-by-mail paper doll named "Flat Stanley." You can read the full story below about the origins and reasons for this adventure project.

We were happy to be hosts to "Flat Jessica" and immediately took her on a nature excursion to Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens, in Palos Heights, Illinois for some adventures. She met *three new friends, who were already friends with "Flat Stanley," learned about plants, insects, and an array of other animals, as well as getting to play in a special area of the gardens that were created just for children! She had an amazing time!

"Flat Stanley is an American children's book series written by author Jeff Brown (January 1, 1926 – December 3, 2003). The idea for the book began as a bedtime story for Brown’s sons, which Brown turned into the first Flat Stanley book. The first book featured illustrations by Tomi Ungerer and was published in 1964. Brown did not continue the series until more than two decades later, when he published five more books: Stanley and the Magic Lamp, Stanley in Space, Stanley’s Christmas Adventure, Invisible Stanley, and Stanley, Flat Again!

"By 2003, the Flat Stanley series had sold almost a million copies in the United States, and the stories had been translated into French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, and Hebrew.

"The book recounts the adventures of Stanley Lambchop after he is squashed flat by a bulletin board while sleeping. He survives and decides to make the best of being flat. Soon, he discovers that he is able to enter locked rooms by sliding under the door. Over the course of the story, he also rolls up to go out to a park, and he is used as a kite by his brother.

"Another special advantage of being flat is that Flat Stanley can visit his friends in California by mailing himself in an envelope. Stanley even helps catch art museum thieves by disguising himself as a painting on the wall. Eventually, Stanley becomes tired of his flatness, and his brother restores his proper shape with a bicycle pump.

"The Flat Stanley Project began in 1995 under the direction of Dale Hubert, a third-grade schoolteacher in London, Ontario, Canada. The project is meant to facilitate letter-writing between schoolchildren as they document where Flat Stanley has accompanied them around the world. The goal of the project is to increase reading and writing skills, as well as teaching children about people and cultures from different places. Dale Hubert received the Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence in 2001 for his work in creating the Flat Stanley Project.

"The Flat Stanley Project provides an opportunity for students to make connections with students from other member schools who have signed up for the project. Students begin by reading the book and becoming familiar with Flat Stanley's story. Then, they create paper "Flat Stanleys" (representative drawings of the Stanley Lambchop character) and keep a journal for a few days, documenting the places and activities in which Flat Stanley is involved. Each student's Flat Stanley and its respective journal are then mailed to students at other schools. The students at those schools are asked to treat the Flat Stanley as a visiting guest and add to the respective journal, then return them both after a short period of time.

The project has many similarities to the traveling gnome prank, except that the Flat Stanley Project focuses more on literacy.

"As a part of the project, students may plot Flat Stanley's travels on maps and share the contents of their journals. Additionally, Flat Stanleys often return with a photo or postcard from its visit. Despite the project's traditional reliance on letters, some teachers prefer to use e-mail due to its quicker travel time.

In 2008, more than 6,000 classes from 47 countries took part in the Flat Stanley Project." (Wikipedia)

*Flat Jessica learned about the importance of plants and how many animals depend on them. She was delighted to be able to take one of the colorful pamphlets with her to share with her Brownie Troop.

.... it creates splendor. Yes, this is Chotanagpur Plateau, the Cradle of ancient Indian

civilization. Those Hillocks of Kiriburu are older than the Himalaya; the oldest geological formation in India is found in Chotanagpur Plateau.

Travel across this ancient land of 50 Tribes and you will see the rivers like Damodar, Mahanadi, Subarnarekha flowing like song, sweet - cold water, it’s crystal clear, drink and feel the potion of Life. These rivers are older than the Ganges. On Subarnarekha Basin archeologist have found evidence of continuous Human Habitation; this land has supported every stage of Human Development; from Homo-erectus to Homo-sapiens.

Here you will find the treasure-trove; the bounty of thousand Kings are hidden just below the ground. Dig the red Laterite soil of Chotanagpur and you will find Coal, Iron Ore, Mica, Copper, Uranium, Gypsum, Thorium...... Century after century men are busy to plunder that wealth using both hand and more but that’s another story and today I will not bring economy or politics of plunder here.

I will tell you that in spring the Mother & Palash ( Fire of the Forest) trees paint the sky over Palamau forest , red; I will tell you that in the lovely cold spring morning Koyels  sing the love song here. I will tell you that in the evening you can find an elephant cub high on spirit dancing on the road; after eating too many Mahua flower. I will tell you, when you go there don't ask for Band width, ask any Hoe, Orao or Bir Hore the secret of Happiness and you will find the answer “Its in my Nature".

** This photograph was taken from a Speeding Train while I was traveling.

Look at the tree trunk Boobka ; Count how many Lives its supporting ( apart from Yours and mine) . I am telling you this Magnolia tree is very healthy and flowers every year; I know her for the last twelve years.

Think about a human being who is like this tree ; On whom other fellow human beings can seek support & shelter in distress ; Who can infuse life juice into other life; Who can inspire others & Nourish a mind to attain a new height, think a new thought ; Who can move the Mind and touch the Heart.

Only that person can do this who has abundant Life Juice; who has a Live & Healthy mind. It doesn’t come easily – it comes through knowledge ; it comes through constant - conscious effort; But even if a person can Support a single Life, Nourish a single Mind and Encourage a single Soul – I consider that person as an worthy human being.

Now the choice is yours, whether You will Seek or You will Give. Take your pick

Lots of Love

Entscheide dich. --- Claudia

I stumbled across a Flickr thread discussing the Harris Shutter effect, where three pictures are taken of a scene with movement -- one with a red filter, one with a green filter, and the last with a blue filter. The resulting photos are combined into one, where overall the colors are normal, except where movement occurs.

The easiest way to do this digitally is to use the channel mixer in your favorite photo editing software to make one photo the red channel (set green and blue channels to zero, leaving red at +100), one the green channel, and the last a blue channel. After you've chosen your base layer, you copy and paste the other two photos on top of it, then set those top two layers to difference blending. After that you can nudge the top two layers around to align them better, if necessary.

This is a fun effect to play around with! See this Flickr thread for more information and examples: www.flickr.com/groups/technique/discuss/72157602020995316/

BTW, as a quick and dirty test, I took these photos with my iPhone, then post processed on my laptop. I wish I could've edited them on the iPhone, but AFAIK the existing photo editors (Photogene, Iris, PhotoForge) don't have a channel mixer feature... Please correct me if I'm wrong!

P.S. As a bonus learning experience I used Lab color processing to make the colors pop a bit more. I used the steps discussed in this other Flickr thread: www.flickr.com/groups/technique/discuss/72057594133492563/

Have fun experimenting!
