We built our first fire a couple of weeks ago, and of course it was Remington's first fire ever (candles don't count). He was extremely fascinated by it, as you can imagine. Hubby took the screen away because Rem kept looking as if he was going to jump over it. Rem crept close, but of course the heat kept him from harm. (Of course, Hubby and I were also hovering right nearby - that's the shadow from his shoe you see there.)

The little pops and sparks kept his attention all night long. It was so adorable!

Ever since (we need to buy more firewood), he sometimes sits in front of the fireplace and looks in, waiting for that mysterious thing to return.

My son and three other children on the trip begged the adults to be allowed to build and sustain there own fire. Amazingly enough no one got burned and they respected our wishes and the fires.

My favorite season is not summer. It’s fall. Living for the day when this pandemic will be over & I was I’ll be on the plane to my happy place 💚 I love to read but books are not substitute for real life experiences (whatever they are). If I haven’t traveled how would I know that in this world exists a place that can make me 1000 times happier person ♥️♥️ . . . My heart bleeds for people who cannot travel for health reasons when they have a desire to do so.

This year I will be hosting two artist retreat events in France and Italy. The experiences I have had at events like this has been monumental in my life. I have built new families from it, and I hope that this year I will be able to say the same. To hear more information or register for these multi-day retreats, you can head to my website or blog!

These are 3+ day retreats where we all live together, eat together and shoot together in incredible locations. The focus is on storytelling and inspiration, and enhancing your style. I found these locations and knew that I had to get a group together to share in their magic, and that is what I hope for this year.

With happiness, excitement and love...

I was pushed by JLfromSF to:

"Create an illusion of speed with the - Zoom-while-you-shoot - technique. The only thing, you must keep the main subject sharp enough so it is still recognizable."

Way out of my comfort zone here. The most challenging part of this push was keeping the main subject as sharp as possible. In case you can't tell what this is... a pool in the middle of condos in downtown Miami. ugghh, this was tough!

I found Jebus downtown earlier today with my "Little" sister Lavender. I noticed him as we crossed the street and I knew he would be my next stranger when I spotted his top hat, then his eyes and hair. Before we approached him, I explained to Lavender that I collect strangers and she agreed he looked cool. Jebus (Jesus with a b) is his nickname and I forgot his given name along with a pen and paper to write these things down! He was in town from Kansas City for the show tonight at the Bottleneck. Jebus was happy to let me snap a few shots and entered my Flickr name in his phone so he could find his picture. What are the chances of almost having back to back strangers with similar names? Love it.

So far, I've mainly used the 35mm f/ 2.8 lens to shoot my strangers. It's easy to carry around at all times and the shallow dof works beautifully for portraits. I shot this in RAW, converted to b&w on the camera and adjusted the blacks and highlights in LR. As always, I take it to Picnik after downloading on Flickr and added a sepia tone at 75%.

I hope you see this Jebus! Thank you for the pleasure of adding you to my collection.

This picture is #20 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page

DENVER STRIKES AGAIN!

Hello, my name is Denver and I am an ornate box turtle. I was rescued from Interstate 70 outside of Denver, Colorado after I was involved in a car accident and slid across the road on my back. Debbie stopped and picked me up and nursed me back to health. I cannot eat on my own since I have no beak and I am blind but I am very well taken care of. I get fed baby food with a syringe and meal worms with tweezers. Since I can't see I stay with Debbie and she takes care of me. I have some limitations but I am free to roam anywhere I want and take advantage of it. My favorite game is hide and seek and I do it well, wedging myself in anything that I can fit into.

Absolute Chaos in Thunder Bay area 400 miles (660 km) away from an asteroid impact crater in Sudbury 1.85 billion years ago. This 2m x 3m section of impact debrisite outcrop consists of a transported cobble of rusty iron formation, transported boulders of grey sedimentary rock and white dolomite from the local Proterozoic paleo-surface, all within a fine-grained dark-coloured matrix of microtektite ejecta.

Earth Impact Effects Program is a profoundly disturbing university application that calculates the physical effects from any rock from space large enough to form a crater on Earth. One of the largest known space rocks of all time was the 1.85 Ga Sudbury impactor. It laid a stupefying "whupping" that was at least a continent wide upon ancient Earth.

So the Hasselblad's standard 80mm Zeiss lens is like nothing I've ever worked with before, especially when paired with medium format film. I love firing it wide open at f/2.8 which creates this wonderfully shallow plane of depth and softly blurring out the rest of the scene. Because focus in that layer of detail is so critical, the biggest concern I've had thus far has been shooting handheld...I've only trusted using a tripod. Nature of the beast I suppose and will just need to be something else to pay close attention to while firing handheld.

This image was taken along the shoreline of the Chesapeake Bay with a few boulders and the remnants of some old piers.

Title lyrics borrowed from the song Ghosts by The Head and The Heart, who I just saw perform last night in Baltimore...superb live performance!!

This is Albert, one of the best pool players I've seen in a while. Don and I watched him beat the pants off everyone he played. Then we deceided we wanted to play him. Don played him first and really did well but he did not beat Albert. I played Albert two games and did really well but still lost... and then I beat him the 3rd game. I must say it was sweet! Albert is a great guy and Don and I had a lot of fun with him. I also learned alot from him which was fabulous and dangerous...lol!

It looks like I'm going to be taking Illustrator again this semester, so i tried saving a flake in Image Export as a Vector Image (SVG), opening it in Illustrator, doing "stuff' to it, saving it as a jpg, doing more "stuff" to it in Photoshop.

She is rumored to be a huge fan of the sport and is seen here arriving through a portal in time in her chauffeur driven limousine prior to last weeks exhibition game between the SF Giants and the Oakland A's.

She's probably a Dodger's fan in real life, but I am just guessing. She is also larger-than-life.

Pano and tv shot of Ms. Day from "My Dream is Yours," by me.

Send them outside to play!

Seen on my early morning walk. The sun was just rising.

Addendum: My neighbors grandkids were working on this yesterday.

From the beginning of this project, the goal has been to learn, not to create fantastic and perfect art for my portfolio. Every project is an experiment, where I'm exploring something, be it construction, design, color, the clay itself, or any other number of things. For example, yesterday I tested a new tape to see if the color transferred during baking (it did). And I'm doing all of this in a single day while I also have other work to do (plus be Ginger/wife/mom, etc.) So...let's just say...not every day is going to be a winner. The basic appearance of this spotted box is exactly as I had in mind. But nothing else is. I've been working on this for nearly 12 hours and...well...it's a freaking disaster. Everything that could have gone wrong did. Let's just say that superglue is involved and it's still wobbly. This one won't be repeated. ;) And you know what? That's okay. I learned a LOT on this one. The haaaaard waaaay!! And tomorrow is another day. Like Vessel Groundhog Day. For the love of Pete. Sigh.
