- one-third cup cider vinegar
- one-third cup Dijon mustard
- one-third cup honey
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- salt to taste
- apple juice or apple cider (homestyle, not the very sweet type) to dilute the dressing.
Mix all the dressing ingredients together in the blender or leakproof jar. Halve the recipe if desired; the basic recipe makes well over two cups of dressing, once you've added the apple juice.
This has become my "house dressing"; I keep all the ingredients in stock, so I can quickly whip up a jar.
Like my ghetto salad divider? I wouldn't recommend it with a dressed salad if you absolutely didn't want the dressing on the other food. It's hardly leakproof.
Orangutans are the world's most intelligent animal beside humans. A study of orangutans found them capable of tasks as complex as using leaves to make rain hats and leakproof roofs over their sleeping nests.
Orangutans have even shown laughter-like vocalizations in response to physical contact, such as wrestling, play chasing, or tickling.

I was introduced to Contigo travel mugs by a coworker. This mug is ABSOLUTELY leakproof and can be tossed, full of liquid, into my work bag with no worries. The lid is BPA-free and the inside is stainless steel. It keeps hot beverages very hot for 4 hours and cold beverages cold for 12 hours. It doesn't sweat, fits most cup holders, and has a neat lever that opens the sipping port, conveniently located right where your fingers grip the cup in the back. It is dishwasher safe, too.
This mug was kind of expensive at 19.99, but worth every cent. I got mine at Target, in the automotive section.
The only downside is that the sipping port can be tricky to clean, but pipe cleaners seem to do the job quite nicely. It won't work for carbonated beverages. The exterior can scratch over time if washed in the dishwasher, but they are available in plain stainless if you like. I got black as stainless was sold out. These mugs are awesome and I highly recommend them! I can see these will be on my Christmas list this year!
was fast asleep as usual on my long commute, and was awoken by an amazing amount of audio leakage coming from this chap and there was at least 4 other sleepers in earshot of him, sigh.
i guess it must be difficult to know how much others can hear from one's earphones/headphones or they don't even realise it does. am hoping somebody (attention: Samsung, LG, Apple, Sony etc) will introduce something like "subway mode" so the levels aren't so high. actually this probably won't work cos it depends on the earphones/headphones, not the player, drats!
so make leakproof ones, please! something that will keep the music in & surrounding noise out.

Laid in a single piece this EPDM rubber is the business. OK, its not quite as aesthetically pleasing as a felt roof maybe - BUT IT DOESNT LEAK AFTER 6 MONTHS!
Feb 16. Today marked the transition from disposable to cloth diapers. The all-in-one AMPs (like the orange one here) still seem a little big in the leg and waist but the two-layer system with fuzzy cotton interior and separate leakproof diaper cover fit better. Kurt is still skeptical that this system works so for now, he switches to disposables at night (the predictable times that she poops).
My mom surprised me with this vintage bento box which originally belonged to my grandmother. She never used it, as it is on the small side, and it is in very nice condition. I am so pleased and excited about it! It looks like it is made of aluminum, very lightweight, with tight lid clips and a permanent divider. The lid is leakproof, as it is lined with a rubber gasket. I did not plan to make any bento while I am here ... but now I think that will change :)

Orangutans are the most arboreal of the great apes, spending nearly all of their time in the trees. Every night they fashion nests to sleep in from branches and foliage. They are more solitary than the other apes, with males and females generally coming together only to mate. Mothers stay with their babies until the offspring reach an age of six or seven years. There is significant sexual dimorphism between females and males: females can grow to around 4 ft 2 in or 127 centimetres and weigh around 100 lbs or 45 kg, while fully mature males can reach 5 ft 9 in or 175 centimetres in height and weigh over 260 lbs or 118 kg.[6] Fully mature males can be distinguished by their prominent cheek flanges and longer hair.
Adult maleAdult male orangutans exhibit two modes of physical development, flanged and unflanged. Flanged adult males have a variety of secondary sexual characteristics, including cheek pads (called "flanges"), throat pouch, and long fur, that are absent from both adult females and from unflanged males. Flanged males establish and protect territories that do not overlap with other flanged males' territories. Adult females, juveniles, and unflanged males do not have established territories. A flanged male's mating strategy involves establishing and protecting a territory, advertising his presence, and waiting for receptive females to find him. Unflanged males are also able to reproduce; their mating strategy involving finding females in estrus and forcing copulation. Males appear to remain in the unflanged state until they are able to establish and defend a territory, at which point they can make the transition from unflanged to flanged within a few months.[7] The two reproductive strategies, referred to as "call-and-wait" for flanged male and "sneak-and-rape" for the unflanged male, were found to be approximately equally effective in one study group.[8]
Orangutans eat mostly fruit which makes up 60% of their diet. Fruits with sugary or fatty pulp are favored. The fruit of fig trees are also commonly eaten since it is easy to both harvest and digest. Other food items include: young leaves, shoots, seeds and bark. Insects and bird eggs are also included and even small vertebrates are taken.
Orangutans are thought to be the sole fruit disperser for some plant species including the climber species Strychnos ignatii which contains the toxic alkaloid strychnine.[9] It does not appear to have any effect on orangutans except for excessive saliva production.
Orangutans at Singapore ZooLike the other great apes, orangutans are remarkably intelligent. Although tool use among chimpanzees was documented by Jane Goodall in the 1960s, it was not until the mid-1990s that one population of orangutans was found to use feeding tools regularly. A 2003 paper in the journal Science described the evidence for distinct orangutan cultures.[10]
According to recent research by Harvard University psychologist, James Lee, orangutans are the world's most intelligent animal other than man, with higher learning and problem solving ability than chimpanzees, which were previously considered to have greater abilities. A study of orangutans by Carel van Schaik, a Dutch primatologist at Duke University, found them capable of tasks well beyond chimpanzees’ abilities — such as using leaves to make rain hats and leakproof roofs over their sleeping nests. He also found that, in some food-rich areas, the creatures had developed a complex culture in which adults would teach youngsters how to make tools and find food.[11]

Little Cinta (CHEEN tah) is turning out to be one spunky guy! His mom, Indah, had never had a baby before and wasn't quite certain what to do with her newborn. But Cinta, through sheer determination and a loud voice, made sure his needs were met. The growing boy currently weighs 50 pounds (22.5 kilograms). Like the other great apes, orangutans are remarkably intelligent. Although tool use among chimpanzees was documented by Jane Goodall in the 1960s, it was not until the mid-1990s that one population of orangutans was found to use feeding tools regularly. A 2003 paper in the journal Science described the evidence for distinct orangutan cultures.
According to research psychologist Robert Deaner and his colleagues, orangutans are the world's most intelligent animal other than humans, with higher learning and problem solving ability than chimpanzees, which were previously considered to have greater abilities. A study of orangutans by Carel van Schaik, a Dutch primatologist at Duke University, found them capable of tasks well beyond chimpanzees’ abilities — such as using leaves to make rain hats and leakproof roofs over their sleeping nests. He also found that, in some food-rich areas, the creatures had developed a complex culture in which adults would teach youngsters how to make tools and find food.
A two year study of orangutan symbolic capability was conducted from 1973-1975 by Gary L. Shapiro with Aazk, a juvenile female orangutan at the Fresno City Zoo (now Chaffee Zoo) in Fresno, California. The study employed the techniques of David Premack who used plastic tokens to teach the chimpanzee, Sarah, linguistic skills. Shapiro continued to examine the linguistic and learning abilities of ex-captive orangutans in Tanjung Puting National Park, in Indonesian Borneo, between 1978 and 1980. During that time, Shapiro instructed ex-captive orangutans in the acquisition and use of signs following the techniques of R. Allen and Beatrix Gardner who taught the chimpanzee, Washoe, in the late-1960s. In the only signing study ever conducted in a great ape's natural environment, Shapiro home-reared Princess, a juvenile female who learned nearly 40 signs (according to the criteria of sign acquisition used by Francine Patterson with Koko, the gorilla) and trained Rinnie, a free-ranging adult female orangutan who learned nearly 30 signs over a two year period. For his dissertation study, Shapiro examined the factors influencing sign learning by four juvenile orangutans over a 15-month period.
The first orangutan language study program, directed by Dr. Francine Neago, was listed by Encyclopedia Britannica in 1988. The Orangutan language project at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, D.C., uses a computer system originally developed at UCLA by Neago in conjunction with IBM.
Zoo Atlanta has a touch screen computer where their two Sumatran Orangutans play games. Scientists hope that the data they collect from this will help researchers learn about socializing patterns, such as whether they mimic others or learn behavior from trial and error, and hope the data can point to new conservation strategies.
A 2008 study of two orangutans at the Leipzig Zoo showed that orangutans are the first non-human species documented to use 'calculated reciprocity' which involves weighing the costs and benefits of gift exchanges and keeping track of these over time.
Although orangutans are generally passive, aggression toward other orangutans is very common; they are solitary animals and can be fiercely territorial. Immature males will try to mate with any female, and may succeed in forcibly copulating with her if she is also immature and not strong enough to fend him off. Mature females easily fend off their immature suitors, preferring to mate with a mature male.
Orangutans do not swim. At least one population at a conservation refuge on Kaja island in Borneo have been photographed wading in deep water.
Orangutans, along with Chimpanzees, gorillas, and other apes, have even shown laughter-like vocalizations in response to physical contact, such as wrestling, play chasing, or tickling.

Finally, I found a water bottle that is leak proof AND spill proof! I can fill it up for my late night knitting in front of the TV and I don't have to worry if I knock it over. You can't believe how many big glasses of water I've spilled. With this bottle you have to press a button on the back of the lid to open it and as soon as you let go - it closes. Impossible to spill.

A gate valve, also known as a sluice valve, is a valve that opens by lifting a round or rectangular gate/wedge out of the path of the fluid. The distinct feature of a gate valve is the sealing surfaces between the gate and seats are planar, so gate valves are often used when a straight-line flow of fluid and minimum restric tion is desired. The gate faces can form a wedge shape or they can be parallel. Typical gate valves should never be used for regulating flow, unless they are specifically designed for that purpose. On opening the gate valve, the flow path is enlarged in a highly nonlinear manner with respect to percent of opening. This means that flow rate does not change evenly with stem travel. Also, a partially open gate disk tends to vibrate from the fluid flow. Most of the flow change occurs near shutoff with a relatively high fluid velocity causing disk and seat wear and eventual leakage if used to regulate flow. Typical gate valves are designed to be fully opened or closed.[1] When fully open, the typical gate valve has no obstruction in the flow path, resulting in very low friction loss[2].
Gate valves are characterised as having either a rising or a nonrising stem. Rising stems provide a visual indication of valve position because the stem is attached to the gate such that the gate and stem rise and lower together as the valve is operated. Nonrising stem valves may have a pointer threaded onto the upper end of the stem to indicate valve position, since the gate travels up or down the stem on the threads without raising or lowering the stem. Nonrising stems are used underground or where vertical space is limited.
Bonnets provide leakproof closure for the valve body. Gate valves may have a screw-in, union, or bolted bonnet. Screw-in bonnet is the simplest, offering a durable, pressure-tight seal. Union bonnet is suitable for applications requiring frequent inspection and cleaning. It also gives the body added strength. Bolted bonnet is used for larger valves and higher pressure applications.
Another type of bonnet construction in a gate valve is pressure seal bonnet. This construction is adopted for valves for high pressure service, typically in excess of 15 MPa (2250 psi). The unique feature about the pressure seal bonnet is that the body - bonnet joints seals improves as the internal pressure in the valve increases, compared to other constructions where the increase in internal pressure tends to create leaks in the body-bonnet joint.
Gate valves may have flanged ends which are drilled according to pipeline compatible flange dimensional standards. Gate valves are typically constructed from cast iron, ductile iron, cast carbon steel, gun metal, stainless steel, alloy steels, and forged steels.

#002 - bamboo roof shingles
Series: bamboo architecture in the philippines
Sol y Mar Beach Resort, Tigbauan, Iloilo
bamboo roofing shingles are made by splitting the bamboo into half and laying the halfs, facing upward, side by side. the other halfs are laid over and covering the joints of the first layer. (during rain, the first layers acts as individual gutters.) then the overlapping layers are secured into place by a bamboo strip, nailed or tied to the rafters/purlines below the shingles.
its not a 100 percent leakproof construction, but what is anyway.
