My daughter used to live in the backyard cottage of people who own this gorgeous German Shepherd, Luca. She is now living somewhere else, but we both still miss dear Luca. Such a magnificent and very sweet dog.
No.7029 Clun Castle leads, with No.46233 Duchess of Sutherland bringing up the rear.

Today seems to be a nice day for photos so I am poised to go out and shoot during my lunch break. Until I do that though, I wanted to post something so my only option was my archives. This is the Wells Falls in Ithaca, NY. I wish I had more time to take the hike that leads you at the bottom of the waterfalls. From there, the view is more impressive. I think, however, that even from that natural terrace sitting at the middle of the falls, the view is decent. The abandoned building is The Van Nattas Pumping station which was built in 1893 on the side of an old flour mill. Originally it provided water for the city of Ithaca for both drinking and fire stations. As the population of the city grew, more pumps were added and the station started to provide electricity too. This may not be the most natural waterfall I have ever seen, its location and the presence of this old mill though, make it quite unique.

SD-40N leads the transfer (YSP 51) from E Mpls to South St Paul. Crossing the Robert Street bridge on a very cold day. Good to see old friends today braving the cold.
WM 7471 leads the 5pm NPE northbound trip from Owosso to Ashley. Blinding snow and bitter cold made for a long but well worth wait. SRI is leasing 7471 and 57 from PNLX for the season while PM 1225 gets some fresh wheel work.
The central doorway leads into the dark, atmospheric vestibule, where the roof is supported by 18 columns with wonderfully varied floral capitals in the form of palm leaves, lotus buds and papyrus fans; some also have bunches of grapes, a distinctive Roman touch.

Although only this column room remains of the original temple, the interior reliefs and walls are in good condition for a forgotten temple in the interior of Egypt. There are still improvements in progress through the restoration process.
From Ruta 40 and then 76 a dirt road leads to the National Park "Talampaya". The park is in a basin between the Cerro Los Colorados to the west and the Sierra de Sañagasta to the east. The landscape is the result of erosion by water and wind in a desert climate, with large ranges in temperature - high heat by day and low temperature at night, with torrential rain in summer and strong wind in spring.
Features are: The dry bed of the Talampaya River, where dinosaurs lived millions of years ago; the "Talampaya gorge" and its rock formations with walls up to 143 metres high; the remains of indigenous peoples' settlements; regional fauna, including guanacos, hares, maras, foxes and condors.

The track on the right leads up into the dry valley of Conistone Dib
Conistone village, Wharfedale, is set in characteristic limestone scenery, including Mossdale Caverns, the dry gorge of Conistone Dib and the limestone outcrop of Conistone Pie Above the Dib the Dales Way path connects Kettlewell, to its north, and Grassington, to its south, providing distant views over Wharfedale
AVR 4001 leads a short 9 car train down the ex-B&O on a sunny December day. Built in 1910, the former Experimental Mine of the U.S. Bureau of Mines makes for a nice photo prop along the route. The building is now part of a larger facility for the National Energy Technology Laboratory.
This road leads through volcanic territory on a small island off Iceland. Heimaey, an island that lives from fishing. A volcano last erupted there in 1973, almost destroying the small town on the island. Parts of the town now lie under a layer of lava 8 metres high. So it's under the road in this photo.
CN 2454 leads eastbound train 306, as they head along the countryside, crossing the trestle at Saint Eleuthere, PQ, in Fall's full force. Of all the trips I've made here in the Fall, this is the most colorful that I've seen it.
October 6, 2018.
P&W GP38-2 2007 leads WO-PL (Worcester, MA to Plainfield, CT) through Putnam, CT on the 'Norwich Branch'. In these years Monday mornings would find the road jobs out of Valley Falls and Plainfield returning in the daylight because of the three days worth of traffic. It would be somewhat of a bottleneck at Worcester, causing the jobs extra work and delay their departure on Monday mornings back to their home terminals
Many days Dad would head over to the main line in Woonsocket and photograph WO-VF and then head over to CT and photograph WO-PL as was the case here on this snowless February day.

SD40-2 #6819 leads BN train #48 under the Iris Street rainbow bridge on May 31, 1995. This train was a late evening/early morning departure out of Midway in St. Paul, and could hit the C&I in Savanna sometime around dawn.
The Iris Street bridge is now long gone. But, intermodals (now Z trains) still fly across the hogbacks of the C&I in northern Illinois.
This would have been the last rainbow bridge westbound on both the C&I and the Peavine. I think the only open one left on the C&I is Columbian Road west of Oregon. They all disappeared within a 5-10 year period.
A repainted EMD SD75I leads BNSF Train G FTDBVA5 27H past the endangered CB&Q searchlights at East Halls on the BNSF St. Joseph Sub. I say "endangered", and don't take that word lightly, replacements are on site for several control points just down the track.
I have to say, these are probably my favorite orange engines on the roster at this point. I enjoy both photographing and running them. Lack of Trip Optimizer is a great start.
Also, I'm did a little watermark revamp and I went full color. I don't have a lot of pictures "stolen", but I get a little more annoyed by it every time. I hate for it to be distracting, in fact, I'd rather not use one at all, but at least the losers have to crop half the sky out.

CN 2423 leads train L501 under the signals at Paris as a torrential downpour takes place.
I followed 501 from Caledonia to Paris with this being my last shot at 0725.
Having CN brings handful of cowls back from the deadlines has been exciting but tough to get one leading...so I'll take it.
UP 3068 leads an eastbound coal empty at Solitude, UT, on the UP Green River Sub, just as the sun is setting. Oct 7, 2021.
BPRR 5019 leads the road train south splitting a pair of former B&O CPL's.

66591 Leads three more class 66's out of Midland Road depot in Leeds. I was actually here in the hope I would see a Colas class 70 on cement wagons that I saw about half an hour earlier but they never came, I left when it started getting dark.
BNSF 5493 leads what I believe to be a unit sand train of 2-bay hoppers at Savanna, Illinois. The train is passing between the backwater of the edge of the flood-elevated Mississippi River, which should normally be just to the left side of this photo, though the flooding is down a couple of feet from it's crest about a week earlier. While locals including the owners of the water-logged grain elevator seen here wait for the water to recede to perform cleanup, the BNSF seemed to be mostly back to business as usual at this spot. That's the Sabula-Savanna bridge in the distant left, which was opened to traffic in 2017 replacing the previous truss bridge.
On October 2, 2022 BNSF leads a westbound Q train that comprised just 6 Boeing 737 fuselages along the Clark Fork River near Trout Creek, MT
Cliffs Erie 4210 leads the last pull of the day through a rock cut just out of Taconite Harbor, MN, working up the steep grade towards Cramer Siding on the evening of August 20, 2008. At Cramer Siding, the 4210 would combine these 12 cars to the other two pulls they made away from Lake Superior on this day. They would eventually tie-down for the day up near the tunnel.
Was a great day 11 years ago today on Cliffs Erie with the F-units working in beautiful weather. Kind of bittersweet as we knew we were probably were seeing the last of the F-Units on the Erie Mining during this cleanup effort.
An SD40U leads loaded ore over Maple Grove Rd. as it makes its way to Proctor with a rare SD40U leading. Thanks to Welch for the help getting to this location and all the additional help this past week.

NR30 leads NR31 along the rollercoaster at Kagaru nearing journeys end at Acacia Ridge after the journey from Adelaide.
NHN 3823 leads the southbound through some nice late afternoon sun on their way from Ossipee to Dover. While the NHN is mostly based in New Hampshire they do cross the border briefly into Lebanon, Maine.
Columbia Basin SD9 651 crosses an irrigation canal and road 6.9 as it leads 2 other SD9's north out of Warden with a turn to Wheeler. These were built for the EJ&E, C&S, and DM&IR in the late 1950's and look pretty good in their matched red, black, and white paint.
NBSR 6340 leads a New Brunswick Southern Railway westbound freight as the negotiate the hilly terrain of the McAdam Sub, at Cork, N.B. Shot with my 150-600mm lens.

Here we are, looking down the path which I'll pretend leads us to the future. We are praying it's much better than it's been for a long time, as my husband, Trev, has a major operation to remove a cancerous growth in his bowel tomorrow. It is a tricky operation and he'll need lots of care but it's a new beginning !
So we're ignoring the dark clouds overhead. They went away and soon it was sunshine again !
Keep safe everyone, look after yourselves and each other.
My time on Flickr will be very limited, as you can imagine. Please forgive my frequent absenses, you will know the reason why now.
I hope you like my picture, edited in Topaz Studio and framed and signed in PicMonkey.
Thanks for looking and your wonderful support my friends.
IC 6251 leads R922 up the grade at Proctor hill in some killer evening light. I was at the A&W in Superior when my friend messaged me that 6251 was leading a train off the docks, I had more food coming but I ran up to the cashier, paid and bolted out. Once I got to the bridge I made it with seconds to spare as I could already hear the EMD rumble.
New Christian Song 2018 "The Incarnate God Leads Mankind Into a New Era"
I
The incarnate God, He brings to an end the age when only Jehovah's back was seen. He also concludes the age of belief when in vagueness God was perceived. The work of the last incarnate God brings man to a more practical age. The work He does brings all mankind to a more pleasant and realistic time. He ends the age of vagueness, He concludes the age when man wished to seek God's face but was unable to back then. He ends man's service to Satan, to a new age man is led. All this is achieved by the work of God in the flesh, instead of God's Spirit alone.
II
He not only ends the age of law and doctrine, He shows man a God who is real, a God who is normal, righteous and holy, who unlocks the management plan, who demonstrates the mysteries, the destination of mankind, who made man and ends the management work, who has been hidden for thousands of years. He ends the age of vagueness, He concludes the age when man wished to seek God's face but was unable to back then. He ends man's service to Satan, to a new age man is led. All this is achieved by the work of God in the flesh. Oh, He ends the age of vagueness, He concludes the age when man wished to seek God's face but was unable to back then. He ends man's service to Satan, to a new age man is led. All this is achieved by the work of God in the flesh. All this is achieved by the work of God in the flesh, instead of God's Spirit alone.

Former EL SDP-45 #6687 leads an interesting set of power for "Flare Friday" as she heads a westbound freight over the Vermilion River. Helping out are two ex-PC units, an SD-40 and a U-25B. Given the nice patch job, definitely the right leader in my book.
37418 leads 11 TTA two axle fuel tanks over the viaduct at Ackworth on the line through Pontefract Baghill to Moorthorpe on the morning of March the 7th 2023. These wagons have been in store at Gascoigne Wood since mid November 2022 after being made redundant in their work carrying Aviation fuel from the Grangemouth Refinery. Running as train 6Z42, the 09:45 from Gascoigne Wood to Lydney, the wagons are heading for a new era in Preservation at the Dean Forest Railway.
CP 4715 leads a bunch of smaller MLW products and an awful looking blue EMD leaser on train 556 at Emmons, NY on August 22, 1992. This would have been one of my best scores of the CP era on the old D&H, but that blue leaser just messes up what is an otherwise awesome set of power.
D&RGW GP40 #3141 leads SP's BMSFU (Beckmann Mine to Stafford, TX rock train) down Comal Street in San Antonio, TX on 8 January 1994. The train's origin is approximately 14 miles from this point, up the Kerrville Branch.
Note C&IM SD38-2 #73 in trail. C&IM #70-75 were regulars on various SP unit and manifest trains around south Texas at this time.
This trackage is now gone, having been moved one block east to run adjacent to South Salado Street. Criminal Attorney J.L Blomster has moved to another location in San Antonio, and a whole criminal justice infrastructure has grown up along this street.
BNSF 9244 leads a northbound empty up Main 2 in Spruce, CO while a southbound empty on Main 1 gets ready to continue as the single-track main south of Palmer Lake has cleared up.
Northbound NRFF smashes through a snow bank at the Gracedale Ave in Mountain Top, PA shortly before sunset on a bitter cold winter day. Freshly painted admiral cab SD40-2 #3059 leads a pair of SD50-2s sporting the Fast Freight scheme.
Simplon pass, Wallis, Swizterland.
The Hübschhorn, 3,192m, is a mountain of the Lepontine Alps, overlooking the Simplon Pass in the canton of Valais. It belongs to the Monte Leone massif.
In this picture the North side of the mountain, coverde by the first snow of October, from the trail that from Simplon pass leads to Bocchetta d'Aurona, a pass on the borderline between Italy and Switzerland.
