I had this Palm Vx lying around with a broken screen, and with PalmOrb I turned it into a LCD display, using LCDproc to hook it up to my MythTV-based media center... how's that for geeky? It's recyclerrific!
When using myth it displays the channel, time, song playing etc. otherwise it switches to cycling cpu/disk/mem load, uptime and other fun stats.
(the low uptime is because when hooking up the palm to the serial port I disconnected the power supply... D'oh!
Then the hole for the screen was measured and cut out.
I did this by first drilling holes to remove the bulk of the material.
