I'm gonna need help with ID for this one. I'm a wildlife
enthusiast, not quite a skilled birder at this point. With the beak, I'm thinking some kind of Finch.
I'm not even sure where I photographed this one, it's from the archives. I looked back at my original folder, this may be from Quail lake, Antelope Valley.
We do love our acronyms, even dismissing these beautiful, dimiutive creatures with a toss-away: just saw another LBJ, yawn.
So often overlooked, sparrows and their cousins are wonderful in their variations. I've been guilty of ignoring them as I searched the skies for raptors. There is much to be said for looking down.

This photo is of a peaceful scene I found at the LBJ State Park in Johnson City, Texas, while wandering around the property on a quiet morning in April.
Took a ride out to LBJ Ranch yesterday... always stop and admire this stand of Live Oaks... with not many people in the national park that day, I was able snap this photo.

The 36th president of the United States from 1963 to 1969. He became president after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, under whom he had served as the 37th vice president from 1961 to 1963. A Democrat from Texas, Johnson also served as a U.S. representative and U.S. senator.

Little Brown Bird displaying in the vines. I imagine he was making the nesting box all nice and comfy and now he needs a mate!! I had to take it quickly with my phone, and then crop it mightily! I had never seen this before.....or perhaps I had never really noticed it,,,

Toggle Z for a closer look.
Many people refer to sparrows as "little brown jobs" which I don't understand. Indigo Buntings can be much more brown than sparrows.
Lyndon Baines Johnson, 36th President of the U.S., was born near Stonewall, Texas, and his birthplace is now part of the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park. The original house on the site was torn down in the 1940s, and as President, Johnson hired an architect to reconstruct the home, based on old photographs and family memories. Information from the park's website.
