It is so beautiful!

Latourell Falls in the Columbia River Gorge has a 249 foot drop.

Here's a straight-on shot of Latourell Falls, one of my favorite waterfalls. Located in the Columbia River Gorge, the water pressure is a little low right now. Need some rain.

Missing my mornings in the Gorge.

This year with distant learning school and having the family at home the entire day, this mom cannot go anywhere. So I'm bringing one my old photos.

The Columbia River Gorge is notorious for its incredible waterfalls. I went there a few days ago hoping to get some snow shots but the snow didn't show up. This is a shot of Latourell Falls, jus a short distance from the iconic Mutlnomah Falls in Oregon

Columbia River Gorge, Oregon.

The Latourell Falls has a 249 foot drop down a lichen covered basalt cliff face. It can be difficult to get a shot of just the falls as people like to crowd down near the bottom. I had to wait about 10 minutes for a group to get tired of getting soaked in the spray and leave. I imagine it's a very popular hang out when the weather is warm.

Latourell Falls is a single 249 foot plunge off a basalt cliff decorated with lichen. The falls is named after an early settler in the area. The property which included the falls was once the country home of Guy Talbot, who donated it to the state of Oregon in 1929.

Wishing everyone a wonderful upcoming weekend.............!

Latourell Falls, nearly 250 feet tall, is one of several major waterfalls in the Columbia Gorge east of Portland. A slow shutter speed was used for this shotl.

Coming back to this beautiful place!

This is the Upper Latourell Falls in Columbia River Gorge.

Latourell Falls, which drops 249 ft (76 m) in a single fall, is one of the most easily accesible waterfalls in the Pacific Northwest, the first one you come across on the drive east from Portland, and one of the few falls on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge that did not burn in the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire. It is known not just for the elegance of its drop, but for the striking columnar basalt and yellow lichen that frame it. This is a 1/3 second exposure from the bridge crossing the creek below it.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend, wherever in the world you might be.

I decided to play with this one a bit. Water on the lens made it unusable for my stock portfolio.

Another capture of lower Latourell Falls. This time with a closer look.

Next time I have to hike until upper Latourell Falls. I tried but I didn't have enough time to finish.

In the Columbia River Gorge

Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Oregon.

Yesterday I visited this beautiful place, Latourell falls with its trails at Columbia River Gorge, one of the 7 wonders of Oregon.

I have so many photos and I love them all, because that part is one of my favorite places for hiking.

But for now I'm sharing this one so you can dimension the scale. I have to confess that those people up there made me feel so nervous just seeing them so high and close to the cliff. Well, they had their doses of adventure :-D.

Latourell house.

When I was hiking in Latourell Falls I decided to take another part of the trail and I saw this beauty (well at least for me). When I see these houses I always think what happened? If those walls could talk...

A tall single-plunge waterfall of 224 feet, it spills over the lip of an undercut amphitheater of tall pillars of columnar basalt. An eye-catching splash of chartreuse-colored golden cobblestone lichen adorns the upper amphitheater and contrasts with the dark basalt walls. cc: OR Hikers.org

High water flow right now with the winter snow melt..only view from the entry next visit we'll walk down the trail.

Latourell Falls located in Columbia River Gorge was one of the falls in my list that I missed during our Last trip to Portland. So I was determined to include that this time and take the relatively easy 3-mile hike to the upper falls. The hike was not very crowded and was pretty shade so we had a good time doing this hike at a brisk pace.

At 249ft straight drop, this is one massive waterfall with lots of spray and truly one of the best things to do when its 90 degrees outside.

Taken a few days ago at Latourell Falls, on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge. While the falls themselves are nearly 250 feet high, sometimes you can miss the beauty of the water flowing away.

Whenever we head to the Gorge we stop at Latourell Falls my favorite of a series at the western end of the Gorge.

Finally made it back here after years of avoiding it for some reason. This time I went with @john_perhach_photo (check out his awesome waterfall photography!). I also found another use for my beloved laowa 12mm lens. This lens is usually too wide for landscapes but it works great for getting up really close to enormous waterfalls! This image really doesn't do justice to how tall this waterfall is, and it was also much fuller as there was lots of melting snow feeding the falls (also making the huge amount of spray absolutely freezing!) Thanks for the shoot John!

(I posted a shot of this over four years ago taken from the same position with my digital camera. So with that I am able to date the early shots on this recently found roll to that time. The entire roll spans several years, to very recent. The film - Kodak Gold 200 - was heat or age damaged. This shot was color adjusted in Adobe Photoshop, but I didn't mess with the dull contrast.)
