I love the shape of the eye and lashes in this and the reflection of the lashes in the eye. Eyes are really beautiful and fascinating, very personal.
My sister has been calling me "lashes" lately, in a way that makes it sound like an insult. "How would you know, lashes?" "Get your ass up here, lashes!"

This week, I decided to take a social commentary approach and take photos of my friend, Dwayne Holmes, who does drag "whenever he gets the chance". I think drag and subversion of gender binaries is interesting in general and taking photos with Dwayne while he did drag for a night was a great way to add a level of intimacy to my photos while showing the whole process from start to finish.
I just got a new 50mm lens which I used almost exclusively during the shoot. I have definitely fallen in love. I think the more selective focus softens close-up portraits and I just love the feel of a fixed-length lens. Lighting was tough, but fun. All we really had on were the bright dressing room bulbs and then the spotlight on the stage which was great for low-key silhouettes.
Editing for all the photos was just levels, curves, brightness, and contrast. I really liked using black and white again and I think it made the photos cleaner and simpler.
Ultimately, I ended up having a great time this week. The photos turned out better than I had hoped and I really liked taking non-posed pictures for a change.
I'm freaking slow with Liora.
Today I tried to give her white lashes, but they looked like shit, so I took #M02 lashes from Dollydreamshop.
I wonder why her eyeshadow looks so yellowish on photos, it's actually beige/brown...
We all know that most human lashes are tooo long for BJDs, even for SDs.
And Some of you sure tried to cut it at the top and found it look not so nice ^^
With this little trick it is possible to use the human lashes.
You need lashes, glue, a brush, a plastic surface that can get messe up with glue and of curse siccors.
It works best with the fuller lashes, I guess with these stroky things taht having gaps between the lashes it would be not so easy to handle..
First cut the lashes to the desired length.
Then apply some glue to the lashes paralell to the end of the lashes on both sides, just to make sure...
I tried it a little askew to make it more even in the length but glued in, the ankle is a little bit wierd..
Then it is time to wait.. Depending on the glue, temparature and humidity.. normally 30-45 minutes should be fine.
I like the wood glue, because it gets transparent, when it dries.
When you wait to long and it is dried for hours it can crack when you bend the lashes to fit it in.
We wait until there is just a little bit of white left.
Then cut it next to the glue or slightly in the glue, when you got a wide stripe of glue.
The glue is the new band. Then you can apply it to your doll like normal lashes..

This is an island just off our resort. The sun sets directly in between those two islands just twice a year; I happened to be there when it happened, but my camera was out of film.

Bat for Lashes at the QMU.
The q to get in was massive for this and I turned up at a reasonable time.
Good gig but a tough one to shoot

I'm going to the paper store tomorrow and am definitely going to look for more/better double-sided paper to work with.
Inspired by the lovely papercut lashes blogged here.
